Tianxiadu Town God's Temple is located on Tianziling, a big mountain 25 kilometers southeast of Changzhi County, facing south from north. It is a complete single-entry courtyard house facing south.
There are 108 gravel steps from the bottom of the mountain to the front of the temple, which is very steep. Starting from the mountain gate in the courtyard, the theater building, pavilion, main hall and other buildings are successively built on the three-story platform. The mountain gate and the theater building are integrated into one, the theater building sits upside down, and the wing rooms face each other. The pavilion is three rooms wide with a rolling roof, the main hall is three rooms wide and six rafters deep, and the hollows between the beams and columns are carved with lifelike flowers, birds, insects, fish, generals and knights, and characters in drama stories. Tianxiadu Town God's Temple is now a key cultural relic protection unit at the municipal level.
Legend: It is said that there was only one small mountain temple on Ziling on this day. According to legend, when Wang Mang usurped the throne, he chased and killed Liu Xiu and came to Tianziling. At this time, Liu Xiu's mouth was parched and he was powerless to escape. Seeing that the pursuers were approaching, Liu Xiu ran to the mountain temple in a hurry. This mountain temple was dilapidated, when the door was tightly covered by a big spider web, Liu Xiu rushed over in panic, and the spider web was poked a big hole. When he entered the temple, he saw that the spider web had been broken, and he couldn't help sighing: "Wang Mang's thief came, and saw that the spider had been broken. How can I survive in the temple?" Thinking of this, he knelt down on the altar Before praying: "God of the mountain appears, if you can close the spider web and save lives, Liu Xiu will ascend to the dragon throne in the future, and you will be made the city god of the world!" When he finished speaking, the spider web had already been closed and the door was covered more and more strict. After a while, the murderous Wang Mang led his men and horses to arrive, but Liu Xiu was nowhere to be seen, so he wanted to enter the temple to search. When he saw that the cobwebs covered the door, and there was no trace of any damage, he hurriedly chased it elsewhere. Later, when Liu Xiu ascended the throne, he really sealed this place as the "City God of the World", rebuilt the temple, and wrote a plaque in person. Tianziling is also called "Chenghuangling". Up to now, the five characters "Tianxiaduchenghuang" on the banner of the temple gate are still vaguely visible.
