Turpan Museum is the second largest museum in Xinjiang. It houses more than 5,000 fine cultural relics from the Paleolithic Age to modern times unearthed in Turpan. It is a miniature encyclopedia for understanding the social, political, military, economic and cultural life of Turpan. the whole book. The design style of the museum is unique, thick and dignified, highlighting the local ethnic characteristics and historical vicissitudes of the Western Regions. The entire exhibition hall is divided into three parts: the unearthed cultural relics exhibition hall, the ancient corpse exhibition hall and the giant rhinoceros fossil hall. Among them, the exhibition hall of ancient corpses unearthed in Turpan area is the most mysterious and attractive exhibition hall. The 11 mummified corpses exhibited here are from the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period to the Qing Dynasty, mainly from the Astana-Hara Hezhuo Tombs, the Subashi Ancient Tombs, and the Yanghai Ancient Tombs. The giant rhinoceros fossils in the giant rhinoceros fossil exhibition hall are the treasures of the Turpan Museum. According to research, this is the complete fossil of a giant rhinoceros skeleton unearthed in the world so far. The unearthed cultural relics exhibition hall is divided into five cultural units including the Stone Age and Gushi (Cheshi) period, Gaochang County, Gaochang Kingdom, Tang Dynasty Xizhou, and Uighur Gaochang, focusing on the social and historical development process and civilization achievements of the Turpan area.
