The rock paintings of Turuk are located on the metamorphic phyllite on the east bank of Yiyi Bay of Kanas Lake. The bedrock has been formed by the action of ancient glaciers, a special landform, the Yangbei Stone, on which the rock paintings are attached.
The location of the petroglyphs is superior, overlooking the lake face to face, and the beautiful and magnificent summer pasture behind. The present rock paintings are divided into two places, separated by more than 50 meters. The first petroglyph is in the polished stone trough on the back of the sheep's back stone. The petroglyph covers an area of 3 square meters. Most of the petroglyphs are blurred.
The second rock painting is on the small steep slope on the back of the sheep's back stone, covering an area of 110 by 94 square centimeters. There are mainly animals such as wolves, dogs, deer, and snow chickens. The larger one is a sika deer pattern, which measures 23 by 10 by 8 centimeters, with upward antlers and eyes overlooking the front, leisurely. The carving technique of the entire rock painting is exquisite, simple and graceful, which is a true portrayal of the life of nomadic people.
