Youning Temple, the full Tibetan name is "Guolong Maitreya Temple", referred to as "Guolong Temple". During the Ming and Qing dynasties, this place was the passageway from Tibet to other parts of Inner Mongolia via Qinghai, and there were people of various ethnic groups from Tu, Tibet, Mongolia and Han who believed in Tibetan Buddhism. The temple occupies a hillside at the southern foot of Daban Mountain. The site is very large, with layers upon layers. It takes 2-3 hours to walk down.
The status of Youning Temple in Qinghai Buddhist temples is extraordinary. Due to the large number of famous monks in the temple and the high religious status of the five living Buddhas including Zhangjia, its scale and influence in history once surpassed Kumbum Temple, and it is known as "" The mother of all the temples in northern Huang". Therefore, many scholars at home and abroad still go to Youning Temple to visit and investigate. It is a pity that the temple was destroyed for the third time during the Cultural Revolution. Although the three halls have been restored, the scale is far smaller than before. As for cultural relics and historic sites, almost nothing remains.
