Tengchong, which has 97 volcanoes, is the best destination for exploring volcanic landforms, and the Volcanic Geopark in Tengchong is an excellent place to appreciate volcanic geological features. The Volcano Geopark scenic area mainly includes three parts: the Big and Small Kongshan Mountains, the Columnar Joints and the Heiyu River. Due to the long distance between the three, tourists usually go to the Big and Small Kongshan Mountains in Mazhan Township first.

Entering the gate of the scenic spot, there is a small museum about volcanoes on the right hand side, where you can learn about the formation and structure of volcanoes. The road leading from the gate to Dakong Mountain is very wide, and the left and right sides are paved with volcanic stones. A fork extends to the side of the road leading to Dakong Mountain, which is the trail leading to Xiaokong Mountain. Choose one of them or climb them all according to your physical strength. Both mountains have trails to reach the "pot bottom" (crater), and Xiaokong Mountain has a better view. If physical strength and time do not allow, you can choose to climb Xiaokong Mountain. Both mountains have steps to the top of the mountain. , A wooden plank road was built around the crater of Xiaokong Mountain. You can walk around the crater, and you can also follow the path stepped by tourists to the top of the mountain. If you think that mountain climbing is not enough to climb high and look far, you can choose to take a hot air balloon here in the morning to overlook the densely covered volcanic crater from another angle.

After visiting the volcano, you can take a van at the entrance to the columnar joints and Heiyu River scenic spots. Columnar joints are a unique landform in volcanic areas. Get off at the columnar joints parking lot and walk along the plank road. The hillsides on both sides are covered with large screens. , a group of sharp-edged stone pillars. After visiting the columnar joints, you can go back to the parking lot and take a car to the Heiyu River Scenic Area. Heiyu River is a river formed by the convergence of two underground undercurrents. It is named after the small black fish in the river. There are many grilled fish vendors by the river, but with the opening of tourism, this kind of fish has become less and less. , It is recommended that tourists stop consuming this kind of wild fish and protect the environment.

There is no place to eat in the scenic area. It is recommended to eat in the small town at the entrance of the scenic area before entering, or prepare dry food with you.
