introduce

The number of Buddha statues can be roughly counted as nearly a thousand, and it is also known as the "Thousand-Buddha Cave". The excavation of thousand Buddhas was popular in the Northern Wei Dynasty, which originated from the term "Three Tribulations Three Thousand Buddhas". Buddhism refers to the past, present and future as the "three calamities", and each calamity is divided into the past, present and future "three generations", collectively referred to as the "three calamities and three generations". In each kalpa, there are a thousand people who become Buddhists and transform all living beings. This is the "thousand Buddhas of three kalpas and three times".

Another Buddhist term is "Three Tribulations, Three Times and Ten Directions of Buddhas". Each life has a space, with Mount Sumeru as the center, divided into ten directions, southeast, northwest, southeast, southwest, northeast, and northwest, collectively referred to as the ten directions. Inside there are past, present, and future Buddhist sentient beings. The Buddhas of the ten directions mean countless and immeasurable. "Thousand Buddhas" and "ten thousand Buddhas" refer to a large number, not necessarily "one thousand" or "ten thousand".

The carvings in the "Wanfo Cave" are similar, and the Buddha statues are arranged in different shapes and arranged all over the grotto.
