Wanling Ancient Town is located in Rongchang District, Chongqing. The town street is 13 kilometers away from the county seat and covers an area of 24 square kilometers. The name of the ancient town comes from a folk legend. According to legend, a monk named Zeng Ao in the Ming Dynasty traveled here and saw the pleasant scenery on the other side of the river, suitable for self-cultivation, so he decided to build a temple here. He found that there were six stone holes on the side of the slope, which seemed to be connected with the river, so he poured chaff into the stone holes to try, and soon the chaff came out of the river, so he called this place "Liukong River". It is called "Lukong River".

In the fifth year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1800), the local gentlemen and villagers expanded on the basis of the water pier at that time in order to defend against the flames of the White Lotus Sect uprising in eastern Sichuan. Over the years, the old appearance of Dayongzhai has changed, but the centuries-old banyan trees on the city wall are still flourishing, and the scarred city walls and several surviving painted patterns have become more desolate and ancient. On the basis of the water wharf in the Ming Dynasty, the ancient streets of Ming and Qing Dynasties were also formed. The ancient streets were built on the hillside, layer upon layer, and the wooden structures of the shops were closely connected. The Qingshi road winds upwards, primitive and simple.

There are also 7 ancient stone bridges with their own characteristics in Wanling Ancient Town. These ancient bridges were generally built around Qianlong and Jiaqing, and some were even built in the Ming Dynasty and repaired for many years in the Qing Dynasty. They are very old. In particular, there are forty or fifty Eastern Han rock tombs on the steep stone walls on both sides of the Laixi River, and some of them have formed rock tomb groups.
