Wenshu Temple is located in Qifeng Tibetan Township, Sunan County, Zhangye City, but it is closer to Jiayuguan and Jiuquan. It is only about a dozen kilometers away from the urban areas of the two cities. It is a thousand-year-old temple built in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. There are many sects of Han, Tibetan Buddhism and Taoism coexisting in the temple. There are many grottoes and murals, which is a treasure house of art. Because the style is very similar to Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes, it is also known as "Little West Paradise".
Wenshu Temple is divided into two parts, the front mountain and the back mountain. The distance between the two places is about 800 meters, and it usually takes 2-3 hours to walk around. Today, there are more than 100 caves and niches in the temple. Among them, the more important ones are Qianfo Cave, Wanfo Cave, Houshan Ancient Buddha Cave, and Qianfo Cave. The caves are ancient and solemn, and there are precious and wonderful murals to watch . In addition to the Buddhist caves and caves, there are also unique temple buildings such as the Ten Thousand Buddha Pagoda and the Town God's Temple, most of which have a long history and can be visited one by one.
