There is one of the oldest water diversion canals in Zhongwei City called "Meili Canal". Its water diversion principle is to build embankments in the middle of the river to divert water, so it is called "Dujiangyan" in Ningxia. The river hits the 10-mile diversion long embankment, but you can see the waves splashing, just like white clouds flying. From a distance, it looks like a white horse galloping in the Yellow River with a long rein. This is one of the eight ancient sceneries in Zhongwei. "White horse bridle". According to legend, long ago, the north bank of the Yellow River was a flat alluvial plain, but this beautiful plain was threatened by floods and droughts due to the fluctuation of the Yellow River. In order to ensure the harvest in drought and flood, people plan to open a diversion canal. Under Shapotou lived a highly skilled stonemason known as Uncle Stonemason. After learning about people's desire to open canals to divert water, he carried his tools and led his only son up to Shapotou. He led the people to select several canal mouths and opened a canal that can irrigate 100,000 mu of land. However, due to the ups and downs of the river, the water level flowing into the canal is always unstable. When the water is high, the canal embankment is washed away, and when the water is low, the lack of water causes drought, so it is called "dry" canal. In order to find the ideal water diversion channel, the uncle stonemason kept running around year after year and day after day. In this way, after 9 years and 9 months of tossing, the uncle stonemason finally became ill due to overwork and passed away with deep regret. The little mason inherited his father's last wish. One day, the scorching sun scorched the earth hot like a brazier. The little mason had been walking for three days and three nights to select the mouth of the canal. He was so tired that he fell asleep on the river beach. In his deep sleep, he dreamed that a beautiful fairy came out from the waves of the Yellow River under the big pagoda tree in Shapotou, with her hair in a high bun and brocade clothes, and came to his house on a tall white horse. In front of him, he said: "Young man, you are admirable for sacrificing yourself for the benefit of the people. Please come with me." He flew past, and immediately, a long white mark was left where the brocade belt dragged. The little mason woke up, but the fairy disappeared, and Baiyin stayed on the river beach, and there were some big characters on the cliff: "The mouth of the canal passes through the seal, and the river flows continuously." So he led the villagers along the Baiyin building Dike to open the canal. After overcoming all kinds of difficulties, a 10-mile-long stone embankment was finally built in 365 days. Since then, no matter whether the Yellow River rises or falls, the water in the canal always has a long history. Later, in order to commemorate the young mason, people called this 10-mile long dike "Wei Nong dike", also called "white horse rein". In the middle of the Yellow River in Shapotou Scenic Area, there is a 2,000-meter-long embankment that goes straight into the center of the river. The surging river water overflows from the embankment, turning up a rolling wave and making a thunderous sound. In the Yellow River, it is very imposing and tense, but it can only be seen from a distance. It may be better if a cruise line is opened for tourists to watch and take pictures carefully.

After checking the information, I found out that this is a water conservancy project in the Yellow River, similar to Dujiangyan in Sichuan, and used to divert water.
