White Lake, also known as Akekule Lake, is located in Hemu Kanas Mongolian Township, Burqin County. The lake is "Y" shaped, 6,600 meters long, and varies in width. Its width is 1,900 meters, covering an area of 8.5 square kilometers. Because the water of the lake is milky white and translucent, the appearance of the lake is white and a little turbid, so it is named White Lake.
The reason is that the inner moraine and surface moraine rock blocks in the upper glacier are squeezed and ground into white white powder by the movement of the glacier and brought into the river and into the lake, which makes the lake water show a distinctive color. Akekul Lake preserves a relatively complete Siberian taiga forest, and Xinjiang white pine, which is rare elsewhere, grows. At the mouth of Baihu Lake, there is a huge boulder lying across it, which blocks the rushing lake water, and the scenery is very spectacular.
White Lake is the main part of Kanas Nature Reserve. It has a wide surface and deep water. You can overlook the whole view of the White Lake when you climb the Guoge Xigai Daban on the northern shore of the lake. The surrounding peaks are reflected in the lake and are colorful.
