The Wujiang River is the largest river in Guizhou. It originates from the Caohai Sea in Weining, traverses northeast Guizhou from west to east, and flows into the Yangtze River. The dissolution structure landform of the lower reaches of the Wujiang River and some of its tributaries is a canyon area. There are steep canyons such as Wujiang Pass, Tiger Leaping Gorge, and Yingchou Gorge. Waterfalls form the sixty sceneries of the Seven Gorges along the Wujiang River.
Wujiang Ferry is located in Zunyi County, historically known as the "Key Tianjin of Guizhou and Shu", and a must-have for military strategists. In the twenty-eighth year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1600 A.D.), the Ming army conquered Yang Yinglong in Bozhou and suffered a tragic defeat here.
In the early years, the Wujiang Ferry was only accessible by boats. Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, pontoon bridges have been built. After the liberation, large-scale road bridges and railway bridges were built, and a limestone hydropower station was built.
