Wumenyan is located 0.5 kilometers southeast of Xujiamiao Town, 15 kilometers north of Chenggu County, Hanzhong City. 20 meters southwest of Yankan, there are Taibai Tower, Yuji Hall, and Great Buddha Hall built during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty. There is Guanyin Pavilion in Kannan, which is built with stone strips and built in the Daoguang period of Qing Dynasty. In addition, there are more than 40 steles about Wumenyan water conservancy in the ancient temple.

This weir is a low-dam irrigation project built by intercepting the Shuan River. The earlier time of weir construction was the era of Wang Mang in the New Han Dynasty. Wumen Weir consists of three parts: weir mouth, weir dam and weir channel. The weir mouth was first built with earth, but it collapsed in the event of a flood. From the Yuan Dynasty to the Yuan Dynasty (1335-1340), Pu Yong, the magistrate of Chenggu County, changed the weir mouth into a stone masonry. The bottom of the canal was opened to five holes, two in the east and three in the west. The five gates can be opened and closed, hence the name "Wumen Weir".
