Xi'an Forest of Steles Museum is located near Wenchang Gate. The museum is composed of steles, stone carving art and other parts. Among them, the forest of steles composed of steles and epitaphs of past dynasties is the highlight of the museum, including steles of famous calligraphers such as Yan Zhenqing, Liu Gongquan, and Huai Su. "Shitai Xiaojing" and "Kaicheng Shijing" are two Tang Dynasty inscriptions.

Among the inscriptions in the collection, there are many fine works
In the Forest of Steles Museum, you can enjoy the inscriptions and epitaphs of the past dynasties. The inscriptions and epitaphs collected here span more than 2,000 years. Among the treasures are: Yan Zhenqing's "Yan Qin Li Stele", "Yan Family Temple Stele", etc., which are standard "Yan Style"; Liu Gongquan's "Da Da Master Mysterious Pagoda Stele", is the most typical representative work in "Liu Style"; Monk Huairen in the Tang Dynasty selected the Preface to the Tripitaka of the Tang Dynasty from the ink marks left by Xizhi, king of Jin;

"Shitai Xiaojing" and "Kaicheng Shijing" are very popular
In addition to the stone inscriptions of calligraphers, the most popular among tourists are the two inscriptions of "Shitai Xiaojing" and "Kaicheng Stone Scripture". "Shitai Xiaojing" is a Confucian classic. The inscriptions were written by two emperors in four fonts, namely: Tang Xuanzong Li Longji wrote the inscriptions in official script, and used regular script for small-character annotations, and wrote running script on the side of the stele after it was inscribed Annotations, and the forehead of this stele was written by Tang Suzong Li Heng in seal script. The "Kaicheng Stone Classic" was engraved in the second year of Tang Wenzong's Kaicheng (837 A.D.), and includes twelve scriptures including poems, books, rites, changes, and spring and autumn.

Inscriptions can be purchased
When browsing in the Forest of Steles Museum, you can also enjoy exquisite stone carvings in the "Stone Carving Art Museum" in the museum, such as the gate of the tomb of the four gods, the picture of the six steeds of the Zhaoling Mausoleum of Tang Dynasty, the picture of Confucius meeting Laozi, and the picture of Qinglong and Suzaku. After the tour, you can also buy rubbings of the original stele inscriptions, but the price of the rubbings here is not cheap, ranging from a few hundred yuan to thousands of yuan. If your requirements are not very high, you can buy inscriptions on the Shuyuanmen Pedestrian Street next to the forest of steles, and the price is relatively cheap.

must see tips

If you plan to visit in depth, it is recommended to ask for a guide. If there is no explanation for cultural relics such as inscriptions, it looks like a stone tablet with words engraved on it.
