Xian'e Lake is located in the upper reaches of Danjiang River, 5 kilometers northwest of Shangzhou City. The surface of the lake is in the shape of "Y", with a water area of more than 6,000 mu and a water storage capacity of 81 million cubic meters. The cliffs around the lake are steep and the scenery is beautiful. The fairy'e cut the wall, the peach blossoms on the river bank and other landscapes face each other across the bank. There is an island in the lake, with a width of about 20 mu; there are mountains around, undulating like a dragon, facing the island with its head raised, like four dragons playing with pearls, forming a great landscape.

There are Xian'e Cliffs, Lake Island and other scenic spots in the Xian'e Lake area. As early as the Tang Dynasty, Li Bai, Du Fu, Bai Juyi and many other literati traveled thousands of miles to come here to recite poems, release boats and go sightseeing. Since then, this place has become a tourist attraction in the ancient capital Chang'an. The cliffs and cliffs on both sides of the reservoir area are cut like knives, with steep peaks, jagged rocks, lush forests, gurgling streams, singing birds and fragrant flowers, showing a quiet, clear and natural beauty. At the confluence of Banqiao River and Danjiang River, a lone peak stands tall, forming a wonderful landscape of two dragons playing with pearls. There are a group of ancient temples on the shore. Every year on the last three days of the first lunar month, three major operas (Qin Opera, Erhuang, and Meihu) add to the fun, attracting pilgrims from Sichuan, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan, and Hubei provinces to worship. Stone sheep, stone cows, stone frogs, and golden roosters announce the dawn, standing on the bank of the river; the "Xian'e Cutting Wall" on Xian'e Peak and the "Peach Blossom on the Bank of the River" on the south bank of the Danjiang River are included in the "Eight Views and Ten Views of Shangzhou".
