The predecessor of Xingtai Forest Park was the state-owned Changxin Forest Farm of Xingtai County, which was built in 1956. The current forest area is 5,580 mu, and the planned total area is 9,000 mu. In 2004, the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government developed it into a forest park with a planned total area of 8123 mu. The forest coverage rate in the park reaches 80.7%, known as "a piece of emerald on the plain land". The park is rich in animal and plant resources, including more than 140 species of woody plants in 38 families, and nearly 160 species of wild animals. The area of artificial forest is 3952 mu, the area of nursery land is 2600 mu, and the area of water surface and wetland is more than 300 mu. The main forest plant landscapes include thousand acres of locust trees, temperate botanical gardens, breeding gardens for fine varieties, picking gardens, etc. It is currently a provincial forest park in Hebei.
