Xishuangbanna Ethnic Museum is located on the east bank of the Lancang River in Jinghong City, on the hillside of Nanlian Mountain with a beautiful environment. The magnificent buildings face Jinghong City and are surrounded by verdant natural forests and rubber forests on three sides. The museum covers an area of 150 mu, with a building area of 16,000 square meters.

The main exhibition area of the museum is divided into 5 sections. The first section is "Looking Back at Mengle—Historical Sails of Xishuangbanna", through archaeological discoveries, records in Chinese and Dai documents, and since the liberation of Xishuangbanna on February 17, 1950, in China Under the leadership, the people of all ethnic groups are the masters of the country and work together to build a prosperous, democratic, civilized and harmonious Xishuangbanna. The third section is "Rainforest Charm - A Glimpse of Xishuangbanna's Nature", showing Xishuangbanna's geography, nature, and ancient and modern biological appearance. The fourth section is "Cultural Prosperity - A Harmonious Homeland of Multi-Ethnic Groups", which displays the cultural classics and artistic relics of various ethnic groups, the achievements of the inheritance and development of ethnic folk culture and art, and the rich and colorful cultural heritage of various ethnic groups who are good at singing and dancing. Promote the progress of civilization and social development. The fifth section is "Good-Neighborliness and Friendship - Xishuangbanna, an Open Living State", which shows the long-standing history of exchanges and exchanges between Xishuangbanna and the countries in the Mekong River Basin. A lively situation of exchanges and cooperation, mutual benefit and win-win results.
