Bifeng Gorge Scenic Spot is located 16 kilometers north of Ya'an City, with an area of 20 square kilometers and a forest area of more than 20,000 mu. There are two canyons in the scenic area, the left gorge is 7 kilometers long, and the right gorge is 2.5 kilometers long. Vegetation, gorge scenery and waterfalls are the distinctive features of Bifengxia Scenic Area. The forests in the gorge are lush and verdant, with overlapping peaks and steep cliffs. Sometimes the strange peaks stand tall and stand high in the blue sky, sometimes the two mountains merge into a line of skylight, and various types of waterfall landscapes add infinite scenery to the Shuangxia, which is intoxicating. In view of the particularly excellent natural ecological environment of Bifengxia, the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda set up the base in Bifengxia Scenic Area. It was completed and officially opened to the public on December 28, 2003. The base covers an area of more than 1,000 mu. After the 5.12 earthquake, some giant pandas in Wolong moved to Bifengxia. At present, there are more than 80 giant pandas in captivity in the base, which has become the place with the most captive giant pandas in the world, attracting many international friends to visit Yaya.
