On April 8, 1946, Wang Ruofei and Qin Bangxian, representatives of the Communist Party of China who participated in the peace talks between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party of Chongqing, flew back to Yan'an from Chongqing on an American transport plane. The sun was obscured by clouds and mist, the plane lost its direction, and accidentally crashed into Heicha Mountain in Xing County, Shanxi Province. All 17 people including 4 American crew members were killed. The "April 8th" air crash shocked China and the world, and mourning activities were launched across the country. Later, a martyr's cemetery was built to commemorate it.The cemetery is majestic and magnificent. A white marble memorial tower towers in the middle of the cemetery. The tower is 19.46 meters high, implying 1946; There is a pattern of sickle and ax on the top of the tower, and the golden light is shining. Four gold-plated five-pointed stars are embedded on the four sides of the top floor of the tower, representing the cause of the Chinese people. On the front of the pagoda, there is a large gold-plated character "It is an honor to die for the people". On the right side of the pedestal, there is an inscription on the "April 8th martyrs' death stele". The martyr's tomb is divided into three floors. The tomb of martyr Wang Ruofei is located at the top of the central axis of the cemetery and is at the core of the cemetery. Then there are the "April 8th" martyrs killed and Qin Bangxian, Guan Xiangying and others who died in Yan'an.
