The Yan Family Courtyard Museum was first built in 1907 (the 32nd year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty). It is a well-preserved classic building complex of Bai people's houses, and it is the manor of Mr. Yan Zizhen, the leader of the "Bai Business Gang". The Yan Family Courtyard Museum embodies the characteristics of Bai people's dwellings, that is, "one entrance to the four-fold courtyard", "three sides and one screen wall", "four-in-one five patios", "six-contract spring", "zooming corner building" and so on. Its architectural layout and structure are very humane. Once you enter the four courtyards, the courtyards are surrounded by each other, supporting each other and well arranged, and have strong earthquake resistance. The upper and lower courtyards are connected to each other, and the upper and lower entrances and exits are convenient and smooth. Sufficient light, ventilation and ventilation. Strict material selection, exquisite workmanship, carved dragons and painted buildings, simple and elegant. The whole courtyard gives people the enjoyment of warmth, comfort, health preservation and eye-catching.

In the 1930s (1936), a western-style building was built in the back garden. The basement can be used for air defense and storage. The whole compound is a combination of Chinese and Western, reflecting each other. There are 103 large and small rooms inside and outside the compound, covering a total area of 2478 square meters and a construction area of 3066 square meters.

Because of the dual historical and cultural values of typical Bai folk houses and former residences of celebrities, the Yan Family Courtyard Museum was announced as a key cultural relic protection unit in Yunnan Province in 1987, and a national key cultural relic protection unit in 2001 by the State Council of the People's Republic of China. In 2013, Dali Duxiu Group funded and opened it as the "Yan Family Courtyard Museum"
