The Seven Stars Thousand Buddha Caves are located 30 kilometers southwest of Yanqi County, next to National Highway 218, and can be reached in 30 minutes by car from Korla. Seven Stars Thousand Buddha Caves, also known as Seven Stars House, is a temple site and 12 caves in the Jin and Tang Dynasties. According to the "Da Tang Western Regions Records", this place was a relatively large-scale Buddhist temple in the ancient Yanqi Kingdom. Caves 1, 2, and 3 of Qianfo Cave were excavated in the late Tang and Five Dynasties and early Song Dynasty, and Caves 7 and 9 were excavated between Western Jin and Sui Dynasties. The temple site has two parts, the South Temple and the North Temple, and a wide spring ditch separates the building complex. After the catastrophe and excavation by Stein and others in the early 20th century, the murals and ruins of the Seven Star Thousand Buddha Caves have been seriously damaged. From 1928 to 1958, Chinese archaeologist Huang Wenbi unearthed a famous 44-page ancient drama manuscript in Tocharian script.
