Yao Temple is located about 4 kilometers south of Linfen City, on the edge of Huamen Scenic Area. According to legend, Linfen was the capital of the sage Yao in ancient times. Later generations built Yao Temple and other buildings here to worship the achievements of King Yao. The Yao Temple was first built in the Jin Dynasty, and was rebuilt and added later. Today, tourists can see the main buildings in the scenic area, most of which were rebuilt in recent years.

When you enter the Yao Temple, the first thing you see is the beautiful Wufeng Tower. There are more than 30 upright pottery figures on the top of the Wufeng Tower. It is said that King Yao often climbed the tower with his four ministers to look far away. At that time, people called him and his four ministers "Five Phoenixes" and " One phoenix ascends to the sky, and the four phoenixes sing together". Behind Wufeng Tower is Yaojing Pavilion, which is in the form of a hexagonal pavilion with high eaves, small and exquisite, very unique. The well in the pavilion is said to have been dug by King Yao himself.

The Guangyun Hall in the Yao Temple also became the "Yao Palace". It was the place where Yao summoned his ministers to discuss state affairs, and it was also the main building in the temple. There are forty-two pillars in the hall, and the stone bases under the pillars are exquisitely carved, and the lions and unicorns are lifelike. In the niche of the main hall, there is a statue of King Yao with a height of 2.8 meters, and four ministers of King Yao stand on both sides. Behind the Guangyun Hall is the sleeping palace, in which there are statues of King Yao and his wife. Coopers with a height of more than ten meters can be seen everywhere in the temple.

For tourists who like history, it is recommended to hire an interpreter when visiting Yao Temple, so that they can hear more professional knowledge and stories behind it. A lively temple fair is held here every October.
