Also known as the Southern Eight Immortals, it is located on the northern edge of the Qaidam Basin on the Qingzang Plateau. It is a landform combination of intermittently extending elongated mounds and concave trenches, which is called Yadan landform by geologists. The name of "Southern Eight Immortals" is to commemorate the eight female geological surveyors who died here in the early days of liberation.
The Nanbaxian Yadan landform is one of the main landform types in the Qaidam Basin, and it is one of the typical Yadan landforms. It is located near an oil town called Lenghu in Delingha City, Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai. The total area of Yadan forest here is about 21,000 square kilometers, with an average altitude of 3,260 meters. It is the largest wind-eroded soil forest group found in China so far.
