黄巾军寨是太平道的发源地，黄巾军起义的大本营。东汉末年，邢台巨鹿人张角在灵霄山创立“太平道”，聚义的四方英雄豪杰，招募平民百姓，惩治贪官污吏，沉重打击了腐朽的东汉地主阶级统治。山上至今还遗有当年黄巾军的点将台、练兵场、石梯、寨子门、寨墙、水牢、营址、地道、民进洞、八角亭等景点。
