Yigongcuo is a famous outflow lake in Tibet. It is located at the southern foot of Nyainqentanglha Mountain, in the wide valley downstream of Yigong Zangbo, a relatively large tributary of Palong Zangbo, in Bomi County, Nyingchi City.
Yigongcuo is a barrier lake formed in 1900 by Zhanglong Nongbat large debris flow blocking Yigong Zangbo. It is 17 kilometers long, 1.3 kilometers wide on average, and 25 meters deep. The climate around the lake area is mild and humid.
The fertile land in the Yigong area is the main agricultural area in Tibet. The main crops are wheat, highland barley, corn, rapeseed and so on. It is famous for producing apples, and tea can be grown in some areas. Rich in forest resources, it produces rare medicinal materials such as Gastrodia elata, Cordyceps, Fritillaria, and Panax notoginseng. The lake area has beautiful scenery and humid climate.
