The ancient city of Yingpan is located in the southeast of Bayingoleng, on the north bank of Kongque River, 137 kilometers away from Korla City, 170 kilometers away from Yuli County, on the Gobi Desert south of Xingdi Mountain, a branch of Kuruk Mountain, at 87°47' east longitude, north latitude 40°56', 848.8 meters above sea level. The terrain around the ancient city of Yingpan is flat. It is backed by Kuluke Mountain, facing the Taklamakan Desert, connected to the Yadan Wonders of Dragon City in the east, and connected to the Tarim Green Corridor in the west. It is an ancient city famous both at home and abroad on the Silk Road.
According to legend, during the Western Han Dynasty, troops were gathered here, and the Swedish Sven Heding, in the late 1980s, a large number of cultural relics were unearthed by the Bazhou Cultural Management Office. In September 1992, relevant departments transported unearthed wooden utensils, knives and arrows, needles and threads, carpets, woolen mattresses, woolen embroidered pillows, and woolen trousers to Japan for display, causing shock. In 1995, priceless national treasures such as colored coffins were excavated, which once again attracted the attention of the world.
