Yongning Bazi is located in Yongning Township in the northwest of Lugu Lake. The entire scenic spot is composed of Yongning Bazi, Lugu Lakeside, and Jinsha River Canyon Platform. Yongning Bazi is surrounded by mountains on all sides, with an altitude of 2,644 meters and an area of 41.23 square kilometers. It is rich in rice, corn, buckwheat, and white melon seeds. It is the bazi with the highest rice planting altitude in Yunnan Province.
The old names of Yongning were Loutouji and Dalan, and it was called "Ludi" in Mosuo language, which means a place to rest. Kublai Khan went south to Dali at the end of Song Dynasty and named it "Yongning", which means eternal peace. Before the Tang Dynasty, it was mainly inhabited by Tibetans, but now it is mainly inhabited by Mosuo and Pumi.
Yongning Bazi is surrounded by mountains and has a beautiful natural landscape. There are dotted villages in the basin, the Kaiji River flows through the middle of the basin, the ditches on both sides of the basin are criss-crossed, the fields are intersected, the land is fertile and the products are rich, it can be called the plateau Jiangnan. There are rich cultural and natural landscapes here. There is Kublai Khan, the ancestor of the Yuan Dynasty, who attacked the Dali Kingdom and led the Central Route Army to pass through Yongning. There are Zhamei Temple, Zhebo Sakya Temple, Yongning Tuzhifu Yamen Office (Tusi Yamen Ruins), Yongning Hot Spring, Tea Horse Ancient Town Cobbler Street, etc.
