The Yuanmou Man Exhibition Hall is located on Longchuan Street in Yuanmou County, Chuxiong Prefecture. It was built in 1989 and covers an area of 4,000 square meters. The name of the museum was inscribed by archaeologist Jia Lanpo. Yuanmou People's Exhibition Hall is now a provincial-level patriotic education base. The environment in the museum is quiet, simple and elegant.
There are 394 pieces of cultural relics and 245 pieces of paleontological fossils in the Yuanmou Man Exhibition Hall. The exhibition hall of the exhibition hall is divided into three parts: the origin of human beings, Yuanmou ancient apes, and Yuanmou prehistoric culture. The first part is mainly based on the fossils of ancient apes and ancient humans unearthed in the country, showing the relevant scientific knowledge of human origin and evolution. The second part mainly focuses on the fossils of Australopithecus, Lufeng and Yuanmou Australopithecus, reflecting the evolution process of Australopithecus and the status of Yunnan, especially Yuanmou, in the history of human origin and evolution. The third part mainly focuses on the relics and relics of Paleolithic culture, microlithic culture and Neolithic culture, reflecting the various stages of the prehistoric historical development of human society.

Yuanmou Man has a history of 1.7 million years, and its full name is the new subspecies of Homo erectus Yuanmou Man. It was discovered in May 1965 by the Southwest Neotectonic Research Group of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences. Yuanmou Man is the earliest human being discovered in my country and Asia so far. Due to the discovery of Yuanmou Man and Lufeng Ape, Chuxiong Prefecture is called "the cradle of human beings in Asia".
