The Yunnan Railway Museum is located at the North Railway Station of Kunming City. It is a museum with the theme of the development history of Yunnan Railway. Nearly 10,000 precious cultural relics, historical photos, documents, etc. are collected and displayed in the museum, as well as many old-style trains, locomotives, and rails. It is a good place to learn about the history of Yunnan railways.
The museum consists of two parts, the south hall and the north hall. The south hall is based on the ancient building of the century-old Yunnan-Vietnam Railway "Yunnanfu Station", and the north hall is a modern building with high-speed rail elements. North Railway Station Railway, here is also a museum currently opened on a station in operation in our country.
The locomotive hall is the south hall. The old-fashioned rails and trains such as inch gauge and meter gauge are displayed in the hall. There are also modern quasi-gauge and EMU series trains, including meter-gauge steam locomotives, No. 29 steam locomotives with a gauge of only 60 cm, Exhibits such as the "Michelin" diesel EMU are very representative, representing the development and change of railway culture from generation to generation.
The most eye-catching thing in the museum is the wooden train parked on the inch-gauge track. The carriages, seats, and floors are all made of wood.
The North Hall (Comprehensive Hall) exhibits a large number of historical photos recording trains and railroad tracks, the blueprint of the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway longitudinal section and other documents and historical materials, which can systematically understand the development process of Yunnan Railway.
