Zayu Nature Reserve is located on the southeastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and was established in 1985. The protected area is divided into three parts: Cibagou, Ramulongba, Qudong and Yazhu due to the different natural resources to be protected. There are more than 700 takins in Cibagou area. There are many precious medicinal tree species and plants in Ramulongba.
The main protection objects of the reserve are forest system and tree germplasm resources.
The reserve is uninhabited. In the entire reserve, the original forest landscape is very complete, and wild animals are active, including Bengal tigers, bears, leopards, pangolins, pangolins, scarlet-breasted parrots, and pythons.
