Zhangye Colorful Danxia Tourist Scenic Spot is located in Linze and Sunan County, Zhangye City, covering an area of about 510 square kilometers. It is a complex area of Danxia landform and colorful hilly landscape, and was rated as one of the seven most beautiful Danxia landforms in China by "China National Geography".
The scenic spot is under the management of Linze County and Sunan County respectively, and the two management areas sell tickets separately. The entrance of Linze Management Area is located in Nijiaying Township, Linze County, and the entrance of Sunan Management Area is located in Baiyin Township, Sunan County. Ordinary tourists go to Linze Management District more often. No matter which scenic spot, public transportation is not developed, the best option is to charter a tour.
Danxia landform belongs to the red bed landform, which means that the red sandstone has been weathered and stripped for a long time and eroded by flowing water to form isolated peaks and steep strange rocks. The general term for it is mainly developed in the horizontal or gently dipping red strata from the Jurassic to the Tertiary. This kind of landform is most typical of Danxia Mountain in northern Guangdong, so it is called Danxia landform.
Zhangye Danxia is mainly composed of red gravel, sandstone and mudstone. Visitors can see thousands of cliffs and mountains in the scenic area showing bright red and reddish brown. Especially under the sunshine, the shapes are peculiar everywhere. The mountains and hills are colorful and majestic.
This makes the scenic spot a paradise for photography lovers. The Danxia color is more intense when it clears up after the rain. The best time to shoot every day is in the afternoon, when Danxia has the most layers. There are many viewing platforms in the scenic area, and viewing platform No. 4 is the best for shooting sunsets and sunrises, and viewing platform No. 2 is best for shooting panoramas.
Zhangye Danxia Scenic Area is also the location of Zhang Yimou's movie "Three Guns Surprise" and the well-known TV series "Detective Di Renjie". There are sightseeing cars in the scenic area. The scenic area is relatively large. Tourists can choose to travel by car. If you choose to walk, please walk on the artificial plank road. Do not step on the ground directly to avoid damage to the landscape. There are many farmhouses outside the scenic spot, you can stay here, and enter the scenic spot early the next morning to shoot the sunrise.
The tour of the scenic spot is in a different order because of different gates. The battery car for the scenic spot travels according to a fixed route. Tourists should pay attention to entering from that gate and do not go to the wrong gate.
Tickets for the Sunan Management District are generally available for the nearby Binggou Danxia Scenic Area, but the traffic in Binggou is inconvenient, so you can only go there by chartered car.
