Zhenqing Temple was first built in the Yuan Dynasty, formerly known as "Zhenwu Temple". It was rebuilt in the sixth year of Xuande in Ming Dynasty (AD 1431) and renamed "Zhenqingguan". rebuild. The Zhenqingguan architectural complex is a relatively complete ancient architectural complex that covers a large area in the urban area of ​​Kunming and preserves many buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is of great value to study Yunnan's architectural history, art history, religious history and the history of cultural exchanges between Yunnan and the Central Plains.

Zhenqing Temple is composed of front hall, Ziwei hall, Laojun hall and other buildings. The three halls all face south and are built on the same axis from south to north. On both sides of the central axis are the east-west corridors connecting the front hall and the Ziwei Hall. Ziwei Hall is a three-room civil structure building with a single eaves on the top of the mountain, covering an area of ​​320 square meters. The entire building retains the architectural style of the Ming Dynasty. The hall is dedicated to Emperor Ziwei (Ziwei means the sun). Behind the Ziwei Hall is the Laojun Hall (there are symmetrical east and west wing rooms on both sides). Due to many repairs in history, it still retains the architectural style of the Yuan Dynasty. The hall is dedicated to the Supreme Lord. Taishang Laojun is Laozi, surnamed Li and named Er, or Laodan, a thinker in the Spring and Autumn Period and the founder of the Taoist school.
