Zhongnan Mountain · Nanwutai Scenic Area is located in Zhongnan Mountains, where the mountains are undulating, and it has been a famous Buddhist mountain and a summer resort since ancient times. It was called Taiyi Mountain in ancient times, and it was called "the area of Shenxiu in Zhongnan". There are five peaks of Qingliang, Wenzhu, Xianshen, Lingying and Guanyin on the mountain. Because it is located in the south of Wutai Mountain (Yaowang Mountain) in Yaoxian County, Shaanxi Province, it is named Nanwutai.

As one of the places of Buddhism, there are many temples on Nanwutai, and there were more than 40 large and small temples in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. These temples of different sizes are distributed on various platforms, with orderly layout, exquisite construction and fascinating. But now most of the temples on the mountain have been destroyed, and there are Guanyin Temple, Five Buddha Hall, Yuanguang Temple, Xilin Temple, Shengshou Temple and so on. Among the many temples in Nanwutai, the one with the longest history and the largest area is Shengshou Temple. Shengshou Temple is located on the hillside in the northwest of Nanwutai, one kilometer southwest of Taigoukou Village, Wutai Township. Because it is located in Tasigou, it is also called Kumbum Temple. The tower of Shengshou Temple was built in the Sui Dynasty, with seven floors in a square shape and a height of 23 meters. According to legend, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda was built in imitation of this pagoda, and it is the earliest Buddhist pagoda in Xi'an.

The natural scenery of Zhongnanshan Nanwutai Scenic Area is quite good. From the bottom of the mountain, the five peaks are arranged like a pen holder, and you can see them at a glance, as if they are close at hand.
