Zhongyuan Cave is said to have been the place where Zhang Sanfeng, the founder of Taoism, practiced. The gate of the mountain was formed by two huge stones leaning on each other; The single-column pavilions all use very ingenious architectural techniques: the Wangxing Tower is not built on a one-foot flat ground, but is built on a conical cliff body, and the foundation of the single-column pavilion is just a wooden column.
Zhongyuan Temple was first built in the early years of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty. The existing buildings such as the Great Buddha Hall, Wangxing Building and Hexagonal Pavilion are all buildings in the late Qing Dynasty, covering an area of about 845 square meters. On the lintel of Zhongyuan cave, six huge seal characters of "the first cave in Guizhou" are engraved horizontally. The Great Buddha Hall is a hall with double eaves and a hilltop style. The lower floor is built with bricks and stones, and the upper floor is carved with railings and window lattices, which are very precise and meticulous. The four characters "Getting Better" are engraved on the round arch at the back of the hall.
