Zhuoshui Ancient Town is located in Zhuoshui Town, Qianjiang District, Chongqing City. It rose in the Tang Dynasty, flourished in the Song Dynasty, and gradually declined after the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is one of the well-known ancient towns in southeastern Chongqing. It is collectively known as "Longtan Ancient Town in Youyang and Gongtan Ancient Town Three famous towns in Youyang".
Zhuoshui Ancient Town is a typical old street in the old city of Chongqing. The pattern of streets and alleys is relatively complete, and it has a strong pattern of ancient towns in southeast Chongqing. It not only reflects the differences with other historical blocks in other cities, but also carries Ba culture, Tujia culture and Han culture. The integration, inheritance and innovation of the city, while the wharf culture, merchant culture, and town culture are intertwined.
The old street in the ancient town is paved with bluestone slabs, about a kilometer long and 2-3.5 meters wide. The shops, houses, guild halls, and schools on both sides of the street are all wooden structures. , don't have charm. The houses are separated by fire-sealing walls with exquisite murals, the window grilles are exquisite wood carvings, and there are exquisite stone carvings on the pier. Walking on the street, you feel as if you are in a palace of multi-ethnic culture.
The tourist reception center at the entrance of the ancient town is an old stage with a history of more than 300 years. The figures on the eaves are carved vividly, which are rare carvings in Chongqing. The Wind and Rain Bridge in the ancient town spans the Apeng River with a length of about 303 meters and a width of about 5 meters. It is said to be the longest covered bridge in Asia. The cover is worn diagonally, and the structure is firm and precise. Unfortunately, it was burned down in a fire in 2013.
