Yunnan, just talking about a few places will make people fascinated!
Lijiang, Dali, Cangshan Erhai Lake and wind, flowers, snow and moon. There is also the sacred Shangri-La, Puzhehei in Wenshan, Bamei Xanadu in Wenshan, and Yuanyang terraced fields of Hani people in Honghe. And the most peculiar style should belong to Xishuangbanna!
Banna, located in the tropics, has one of the few tropical rainforests in my country, the Dai compatriots who have celebrated the Songkran Festival, the third longest river in my country, the Lancang River, and the bustling Starlight Night Market.
Video mix and cut, take you to see the interesting Banna first!
Shanghai flies to Xishuangbanna, stops in Changsha. The main building of Banna Airport has a golden roof in the style of a Dai temple. We landed at 6 o'clock and took a car to the hostel. Seeing Chongqing noodles at the door, I didn’t eat less in Chongqing, so I decided to have another bowl. The hostel happened to have a group of friends having a barbecue, joining in, it was quite lively.
D1 Runaway Tropical Rainforest
tips:
Friends who are not interested in plants can skip this part.
If you want to take pictures, go to the Palm Garden, and you can make a film.
I admire myself a little. After visiting the east and west areas of the botanical garden in one day, the intensity is high, and it is really tiring! More than 30,000 steps, the last time I walked so many steps in Sanqing Mountain in one day. That night, we went to the Starlight Night Market for dinner, featuring special dishes of the Dai nationality. Gaozhuang Xingguang Night Market is very lively, there are several resident singers next to the Big Buddha Temple, and there are many young ladies and elder sisters wearing Dai costumes to take pictures.
Yunnan rice vermicelli
After 7 o'clock, I arrived at Banna Bus Station and prepared to take a bus to the Tropical Botanical Garden.
A very ordinary noodle shop next to the station, small in size, with several sets of old tables and chairs outside the shop. An elder brother was enjoying the noodles and thought it was delicious, so he ordered a bowl of rice noodles with shredded pork. Serve soon, this bowl of noodles looks plain. Add seasoning by yourself, there is chili soybean paste, which is quite fragrant. The toppings are shredded pork and mushrooms, just a spoonful.
The moment the rice noodle is in the mouth, the impression turns 180 degrees, it is so delicious, and the sense of happiness is overwhelming! Rice noodles are slightly thinner than Jiangxi rice noodles and have a more delicate taste. Rice is abundant here, and rice noodles are naturally one of the staple foods. The soup is blessed with shredded pork mushrooms and soybean paste, which is fragrant.
Sahuan Tropical Botanical Garden
Departing at 8:45, it took 1.5 hours to arrive at the Botanical Garden. At 10:30, buy a ticket to enter the park.
Walk across the bridge and start wandering. Needless to say, the botanical garden is really huge! If you don't plan in advance, you will be stunned immediately when you come in. The original intention must be to be able to visit all the best, but the route planning is a problem. I opened the map and looked at it for a while, but I couldn’t see why, so I had to bite the bullet and walk first.
In the northeast corner of the West District, I wandered around for a while, and saw a very magical konjac flower, and a red flower of a vine, which I couldn’t name, and a tree that bears fruit. I don’t know what kind of tree it is. , in addition to surprise or surprise.
Here I would like to thank the Xingshi app, with it, identifying plants is at your fingertips! After walking around for a while, looking at the map again, the route took shape, and then I started to play in stride.
①【Tropical Balloon】
In the northeast corner of the West District, the planning is a bit messy, and it’s a bit unclear to walk around, but there is a hot air balloon that is particularly conspicuous. It rises and falls on the edge of a green lawn. Hot air balloons are for tourists to fly high and see far away. Flying to an altitude of tens of meters, the vision must be very wide.
Surrounded by small pools, lotus flowers of various colors. There is oleander next to it. In addition to pink flowers, there are actually yellow flowers.
②【Hundred Bamboo Garden】
Coming from the hot air balloon, I was fascinated by the Bamboo Garden. I kept seeing different varieties of bamboo here, with different sizes, shapes and colors. It was an eye-opener. Bamboo grows in a damp and humid environment, and the black and white flower mosquitoes are really poisonous, and the bites are unbearably itchy.
Not so many pictures! With the bamboo species listed below, you will know how the Bamboo Garden is justifiable!
Fragrant glutinous bamboo, Xiaoqin silk bamboo, Buddha belly bamboo, green skin bamboo, hemp bamboo, wild dragon pearl bamboo, small leaf dragon bamboo, car tube bamboo, drum knot bamboo, strong green bamboo, oil tendon bamboo, saluo bamboo, golden green bamboo Bamboo, dragon bamboo, big green bamboo, thin bamboo, diabolo, golden hair bamboo, green bamboo, moso bamboo, pear vine bamboo, Yunnan bamboo, Menglun giant bamboo, black hair giant bamboo, Thai bamboo, gray bamboo, big Thai bamboo , Jiang bamboo, rough suede bamboo, strong green bamboo, Malay sweet bamboo, long tongue yellow bamboo, stone green bamboo, mother bamboo, yellow skin green tendon bamboo, square bamboo, yellow moso bamboo, big Buddha belly bamboo, green bitter bamboo, pear bamboo , big-eyed bamboo, pink bamboo, punt pole bamboo, tendon bamboo, jute bamboo, boat bamboo, long-branched bamboo, Ni bamboo and so on.
The most impressive one is the Buddha belly bamboo, which seems to have become a kind of landscape bamboo. The stem nodes between the bamboo nodes are round and convex, just like the belly of the smiling Buddha. There is also a kind of bamboo that grows thorny branches. It is very tall and can grow to a height of more than 10 meters. I have been looking for it because I used to have such a piece of bamboo in my hometown. I've been looking for it for a long time, maybe it's called Longzhu? But after checking the information, it should be called thorny bamboo, which is not found in Baizhu Garden.
Next to the Bamboo Garden is the Fujimoto Garden, a paradise for vines. A lot of people I don’t know, a tour guide just happened to come over, chat a few words, gain some knowledge. Here is a big tree with a white trunk, called balsa wood, which is the lightest wood in the world, and its texture is relatively good. It is a good wood for shipbuilding. It seems to be off topic, haha, but the vines really failed to remember even one.
③【Wangtian Tree】
Come from Fujimoto Garden, pass Baicao Pavilion and Nanyao Garden. There are many herbs, like a nursery, including plantain, which we are familiar with, as well as flying centipede and Tianqi. There are also dragon blood trees, messing in.
Also saw medicinal wild rice. Yuan Lao completed the hybrid rice project through wild rice.
Going forward, there is a sandalwood tree, which is very inconspicuous. I did not expect it to be so popular with the world, and its value is really high. The heart of the tree can be used as medicine, the trunk and root can be used to extract sandalwood essential oil, it is also a raw material for spices, and a good raw material for carving crafts. The whole body is a treasure.
Next to it is Wangtianshu, the name is really good! Very high, 40-60 meters, you need to look up. This is the symbol tree species of tropical rainforest, Dipterocarpaceae, currently only distributed in Yunnan, Guangxi, Hainan, and Medog, Tibet, which is an important basis for proving that my country has natural tropical rainforest.
There are other dipterocarp plants next to them, all of which are very tall! God, the big trees in the tropical rainforest are all giants. Compared with the forests less than 10 meters high in the southeast coastal forests, they are very different.
There is also a jacaranda next to it, the name really makes people feel kind. I come from Shantou, and the city flower is Poinciana, also known as Jacaranda. The flame-like red of the phoenix flower is impressive. The jacaranda, native to South America, is now introduced in several southern provinces in China. I still remember seeing the jacaranda introduced from Kunming, the road when it was in full bloom, and the beautiful screen. I really like this plant, beautiful red, cool blue and purple, and those soft feathery leaves.
④【Large legume plant】
For beans, the concept is a variety of red beans and soybeans, all of which are small herbs. And this Java flower bean is amazing, and there are such towering "big trees" in the leguminous family. After looking at Wangtianshu, I feel that it is tall. Unexpectedly, the Java ball flower bean is not inferior. It is tall and big, but it has such a cute scientific name.
How many trees should there be in this one? too big! Check the information, kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species. I am overwhelmed by seeing it, but I still don’t understand it. Regardless, let’s call them large bean plants.
Pinnate leaves, very similar to the type of leaves of mimosa, similar to red jacaranda and blue jacaranda. But in fact, there are many differences in it, which cannot be studied in detail. There are sea red beans nearby, and the leaves of the pinnate leaves are relatively large. They are all called beans, my God, such a big tree, because the fruit and seeds are beans, they are all called beans, haha.
⑤ [Hundred Gardens]
Near Baihua Garden, there are several lotus ponds, connected to several pavilions, which have the feeling of Jiangnan gardens.
There are lotus flowers in the pond, just when the flowers are in full bloom, especially the big pink lotus flowers! In addition, various heliconia plants are planted in the surrounding area. The tidbits of different colors and similar shapes are scattered and orderly, so beautiful. The most shocking thing is a large pink flower that is more coquettish than roses, called porcelain roses. It is the flower of torch ginger!
Phoenix flower here. There are also several flame trees, which look like poinciana from a distance, with green leaves and flame-like red flowers, and the trunks are more powerful. Secretly, I also found mimosa, there are a lot of them on the grass by the pool, I picked them up and left satisfied.
On the side of the road to the viewing platform, I saw acacia trees. I learned in elementary school textbooks that they can be used to make soap. What impressed me the most was the hard thorns on the tree trunk, which were so scary that they would bleed if touched accidentally.
⑥[Energy Botanical Garden]
Go up the stairs, pass the viewing platform, and go to the Energy Botanical Garden. I thought it was coal resources or something, but later found out that it meant energy storage. All kinds of sugar palms, oil palms, and sugar coconuts are very tall palm plants that can bear a lot of fruit. Of course, there are also our common food and crop plants, which are also full of energy.
There is also a sausage tree here, which is very strange. The fruit is a long strip, like a sausage. Here I also see another large bean plant, sticky-leaved bean, which is very similar to Java bean curd.
There are two small man-made scenic spots here, one is a piston, I don’t know what it is for, and the other is a metering column. This is definitely worth seeing, it’s too hard. Rows of shelves are filled with various seeds in glass jars. The seeds all have their own energy, so are these used to calculate the energy of the seeds? If these energy sources can partially replace or even replace coal and oil resources, that would be great! This is a proper green energy, as long as the sun and rain are enough.
Banna Sunshine is so ruthless, it is unbearable! It's in the open air, so I really can't study the metering column well, so I can only read it in a hurry and leave. Suggestion, whether it is sunny or rainy, bring an umbrella to visit this tropical botanical garden, it is too hot and too sunny. When I returned to Nan'ao Island, I was told that I had turned black. Everyone thought it was the island's tanning, but they didn't know that it was Banna's tanning.
⑦【Dipterocarp Garden】
Giant tree forest! The appearance is ordinary, but each tree is aimed directly at the sky, and it is higher than the Tiangong test! Here are all kinds of dipterophyte plants like Wangtianshu, all of which are forty to fifty meters tall. The trunk is slender and the plant density is high. It is the first time in my life to walk in such a garden composed of tall trees.
If you have seen the picture of the birch forest looking up, it is the feeling of lying down and looking up, but here it is good to stand up and look up!
Going forward is the Garden of Strange Flowers and Flowers. As the name suggests, there are quite a lot of strange plants here. There are monstera, elephant leg tree, all kinds of succulents, and many strange plants that I can't remember. The park is not too big, and it is quick to walk around.
⑧【Cycad Garden】
Cycads are similar in shape to Cycads spinosa, and they have also existed on the earth for hundreds of millions of years. They are both living fossils.
Cycads are also commonly known as cycads, which is what the cycads are talking about when they bloom! This cycad garden is small in size, but there are quite a lot of cycads, both high and short, thick and thin. The leaves of cycads are slender and hard, and the thorns are particularly painful. The leaves are all green and full of vitality. Many cycads have something like flower balls growing in the center. This should be the cycas blooming.
In the cycad garden, I feel that I have traveled hundreds of millions of years ago, and I am afraid that a few dinosaurs will suddenly appear and take me away.
⑨【Banyan Garden】
There are so many kinds of banyan trees. In my impression, banyan trees are the kind in the eastern Guangdong and southern Fujian areas! But in fact, it is just our most common kind of banyan.
There is also the banyan tree. I used to think that the leaves of this tree are so big and interesting, but I didn’t expect it to be a kind of banyan tree. There is also a banyan whose trunk bears fruit, called the fruit-gathering banyan. It is rare to see such a plant with fruit growing on the trunk. It is said that it is a difference in competition. In order for animals to better discover flowers and fruits, it is conducive to pollination and seed spreading. .
The understanding of the banyan tree has been raised to a higher level here. There is a kind of banyan tree, which grows around other big trees. When it grows up, the previous big tree is almost surrounded by the trunk of the banyan tree.
Banyan trees also have aerial roots, the common banyan tree, the aerial roots are mainly used as pillars, unlike the roots of strangled Rong, which can penetrate the soil to absorb nutrients and water. In addition, there is the phenomenon of buttocks, and there are several trees in the eastern district.
⑩[Palm Garden]
It's the garden with the best looks, definitely coming, it's a good production!
The park is wide, and there are many kinds of palm plants. The sizes are high and low, which makes people dazzled. Many young ladies are taking pictures beautifully. Coconuts, betel nuts, palms, etc., as well as sugar palms, oil palms, and sugar coconuts in energy plants, are all palms. Some trees are full of red fruits, which are coveted. These palm plants are scattered in a large lawn, which is full of greenery and makes people feel at ease.
The pandanus tree next to it grows in the water, and its root system overlaps like a net, which is really strange. There is a plant in Tianziwan, Nan'ao Island, which grows on the mountainside, and their magical fruit, which is too similar to a pineapple, is said to be edible, but it looks poisonous.
It is also next to the Water Botanical Garden. The most famous one here is Wang Lian, which can bear the weight of an adult, that is, people can stand on the lotus leaf! It's a pity that the season was not right when I went, and they hadn't sprouted yet.
There are really many varieties of palms, big and small, tall, short, fat, and thin, with all kinds of leaves, which is really eye-opening!
On the other side of the pandanus, connected to the pool, there are small lotus flowers of various colors, which are very beautiful. White, purple, red, pink, lotus feast. Next to the Palm Garden is the Aquatic Botanical Garden. Unfortunately, the season is not right. I didn’t see the super big lotus leaves, so I didn’t have a chance to try the feeling of standing on the lotus leaves.
⑪【Mulan Hall】
Get to know orchids again. In my impression, orchids are bought home for decoration during the Chinese New Year. They are in pots, such as Phalaenopsis, and Phalaenopsis of various colors are really beautiful.
Here, let me see the original growth environment of orchids. They live on big trees in the tropical rainforest, and the branches of many trunks are the favorite growth environment for orchids. The environment here is generally cloudy and humid, and most orchids are arranged on wooden piles.
And the magical pitcher plant! And the Nine Deaths Resurrection Grass? ! It seems to be playing "Sword" and picked good medicine in the wild!
⑫【Sky Garden】
There is a tree at the entrance of the Mulan Hall, called the Hanging Garden, which is a common phenomenon in tropical rainforests.
Tropical rain forest, hot and humid, lively. All kinds of plants, countless, are all competing for sunshine and rain, so there is a competition for differences, and the Eight Immortals cross the sea, each showing their magical powers! The big trees grow fast, and they rise up early to fight for the resources at the top; the vines have first-class climbing ability, and often use these big trees to climb to the top and share the fruits, such as pothos. You would never have imagined that it has small leaves indoors, but it will become abnormal once it is in the natural environment. When it climbs to a high place, the leaves can expand to dozens of times the size of the original small leaves. There are also orchids, for example, which drill into these gaps. By the way, their habits have been adjusted. They like dampness and grow on big trees. There are other small-bodied plants that can also grow on large trees, not to mention moss lichens and the like.
Therefore, the sky garden has become a very typical tropical rainforest phenomenon, don't miss it!
⑬【Primitive Tropical Rainforest in Eastern District】
Walk abruptly from the West District to the East District, and walk for more than 20 minutes. Even though it is 4 pm on a hot day, it is still full of heat. Only the tropical rainforest in the Eastern District is worth seeing, to see the natural phenomena of strangulation and buttroots. The eastern area is a tropical rainforest natural area, unlike the western area which is artificially transplanted. Don't go to the second area of the East District at all, it's boring. The third scenic spot, Green Stone Forest, is too far away, and there is not enough time, so give up. During the period, I called Menglun Bus Station and confirmed that I got off work at 6:30, but there was also a bus at 7:30.
In the tropical rainforest natural area, all kinds of tall trees are scattered and growing. The staff worked tirelessly to introduce cards to the big trees so that we can easily distinguish the tree species. The trees are very tall. If you look up, there are also vines that grow upward through the tall trees. Some vines are as thick as your arms.
I have watched the tropical rainforest countless times in documentaries, but I didn’t expect to be able to experience it in Banna! There are 20 or 30 kinds of big trees here, which really let you deeply experience what it means to be tree-lined! In this rainforest, the heat of Banna is hardly felt, only the comfortable coolness.
There is a banyan tree here, which is very big and messy. Looking at those disorderly and powerful banyan tree trunks winding upwards, it is very shocking and I feel the power of nature.
Another phenomenon, called buttresses, are the plank-shaped roots of tall plants used to assist in standing. Tall plants are generally tens of meters high. They are super strong men in the big tree. In order to stand firm, the roots will become plate-shaped, which is conducive to enhancing stability. There are a total of 3 trees in this area that are more obvious.
In the second area of the East District, there are almost no tourists, and there is really nothing interesting to see, so it is recommended not to go. By the way, here I know that Panzhihua is kapok, the city flower of Guangzhou. The return trip passed through the Guoshu National Garden in the West District, and the feeling was average.
On the return trip, I passed the Guoshu National Garden, and it felt average. But it was a surprise to meet these iron trees! Iron tree king, the tree is thousands of years old!
It was really a day with broken legs and blind eyes, but I feel that I have gained a lot. I recall what I saw that day. I am really satisfied. I saw so many plants! It's great, even more powerful than the South China Botanical Garden!
Let's guess, what is the vine below with big green leaves?
Green dill! Green dill! Green dill!
Dai specialties
Go back to the youth hostel to rest, then go to Gaozhuang Xingguang Night Market, and eat roast chicken and pineapple rice in Jianpuzhai.
Pineapple rice costs 20 yuan, and half a roast chicken costs 20 yuan. The pineapple rice tastes sweet and sour, but mine was obviously not hot enough, it was only lukewarm, so it didn't feel very good. The pineapple rice may be all cooked first, put there, and then heated up and served on the table after the customer orders. The grilled chicken is not flattering, part of it is burnt, but it tastes good, dipped in powder sauce, it is very spicy and delicious. These two are considered to be representatives of very special delicacies in Banna.
Starlight Night Market
Go through the small street of the night market to the Big Buddha Temple. Entering the ticket gate of the scenic spot, you can see the bright lights and stars from a distance! No wonder it is called Starlight Night Market, a poetic and romantic name.
There are a lot of tourists, shoulder to shoulder. There are many stalls, lively, selling snacks and accessories, as well as singing in the square and bar performances. There are many little sisters and big sisters here who wear Dai costumes to take pictures, and photography is definitely very popular here. Putting on the special costumes of the Dai ethnic group and taking pictures of beautiful Dai girl costumes in iconic attractions such as the night market and the Shwedagon Pagoda should be one of the must-dos for many young ladies when they come to Banna. When I went to Manting Park the next day, I could see girls wearing Dai costumes and taking pictures everywhere.
There are two groups of singers under the Shwedagon Pagoda, one of which is more interactive, and the audience is invited to sing, which is very lively. Find a place to sit down, listen quietly, and sing along when you are happy. From time to time, I use the camera to record the excitement and happiness.
Here, I met two Chaoshan fellows from Huilai, saw them taking photos, and helped to take some photos after saying hello. However, if there is no good camera position and auxiliary lighting, it is very difficult to shoot at night. Without a tripod, it is impossible to take a long exposure. You can only reduce the exposure time to increase the IOS, and the noise is obvious.
The bustling night market, I took some pictures at random. In addition to young ladies and sisters in Dai costumes taking pictures, resident singers and tourists, there are also local stall owners engaged in tourism business, as well as tourists.
Go down and stroll around the stalls with big umbrellas to experience the most lively night in Banna.
D2 Experience the Dai flavor of life
In the morning, go to Manting Park and the Great Buddha Temple, and in the afternoon to the Dai Minority Garden. In the evening, go back to the city to eat Dai family music, then go to the Starlight Night Market, and visit the Mekong Six Nations Floating Market. This is a very Dai-flavored day. See the splendor of Dai temples, visit Dai villages, watch tourists experience the splendor of the Dai Water-Splashing Festival, and eat an authentic Dai-style meal.
Manting Park
Manting Park, the local royal garden, Premier Zhou also came here to splash water with the Dai people to commemorate. Tickets are 40, entering the park is a large square, with Premier Zhou participating in the water-splashing sculpture! Next to the statue is a white wall, and the book reads "Commemoration of Premier Zhou's participation in the Songkran Festival in 1961". Next to it are tall, skinny palm plants. What a beautiful day, statues, white walls, palms, blue sky, summer feeling.
Behind the square, there is a guide map, and the route is planned, first go to the Palace of the King of Dai. Those few buildings are all resplendent and magnificent buildings, the palace of a king, although there are only one or two floors, but it is also majestic.
There is also an enlarged version of the elephant foot drum and other musical instruments, as well as a graphic display of Premier Zhou participating in the Songkran Festival.
The palace used to be the imperial garden, with water, flowers and bridges. It is also like being in a tropical rainforest, with many tall trees, weaving a shade, and walking in it will not feel the heat of summer. Going in, it is the city center tower and the orchid area. The pagoda is not big, it is a typical pagoda in Southeast Asia. Orchids, if you look closely at their branches, they look like Dendrobium, slender and long, and almost all grow on big trees.
It’s amazing to meet two other fellow villagers here. Every time I travel far, I can meet fellow villagers. The last time I was in Mohe, Heilongjiang, I also heard Chaoshan dialect in Kashgar. On the other side of the Royal Garden is the Leaf Garden, which is actually Bougainvillea. If you have seen it too much, you won’t take a closer look.
The most impressive thing is the Royal Elephant Cafe in front. The building is the kind of red karst landform, beautiful and vigorous. There are several poinciana trees in full bloom. There is also a white tower next to it.
This should be the easiest place to make a film in the whole Manting Garden. Many young ladies in Dai costumes took a quick photo here. The wide staircase and walls, the tower-shaped building on the roof, and the red flowers and green leaves of the poinciana are all very beautiful in combination. The costumes of Dai girls and Dai architecture are all very representative cultural elements of Banna, just like peacocks and elephants.
Ahead is the cruise ship wharf and octagonal covered bridge. There is a royal lotus garden there, there are quite a lot of lotus, and there are more African crucian carp, which is the main ingredient of the local specialty lemongrass grilled fish. An ordinary tilapia costs less than 10 yuan, but it can be made into a dish worth tens of dollars, and the profit is not low! There is a tree next to the lake, which is very similar to Poinciana, but with bigger leaves and pink flowers. There is a waterfront promenade rest area next to the lake, where tourists feed, and swans and tilapia compete for it.
Go back through the wind and rain corridor bridge to reach the White Tower and the Goddess of the Earth.
The white tower, the main tower in the middle is the tallest, surrounded by smaller towers with the same shape but shorter, forming a large circle. The white pagoda has been baptized by wind and rain, and has a layer of mottled traces of the years, so that it is white and gray, making it look more ancient and sacred.
Next to it is the sculpture of the Goddess of the Earth. It is said that she pulled out a hair, and the water from the hair washed away the demons and ghosts that threatened Sakyamuni. Therefore, this sculpture is related to water. There are many faucets on the base, spit water, and gold Next to the basin, many young ladies took pictures of holding water in their hands here.
Zongfo Temple
The Goddess of the Earth is the Zongfo Temple. There are many large and small halls, among which the main hall is the most magnificent. There is a big golden Buddha statue in front of the main hall, and there are bells and drum towers on the left and right sides, as well as a gold tower pillar and a silver tower pillar.
The hall is very high, the interior is shady and cool, and there is a platform in the center, so you have to take off your shoes when you go up to worship. It's too hot outside, and it can really make people dizzy in the open air, so I hurried out after walking around.
When I came out, I met those two Chaoshan fellows. I learned that the next scenic spot was to go to the Dai Nationality Park, so I discussed whether I could go with me. The Dai Nationality Park is also one of the purposes of the itinerary. It is a bit far away, and it is difficult to take a car. It is best to go with their car and make up for the cost.
Just when they were about to set off, the two fellow villagers asked if the White Pagoda was the Zongfo Temple? Well, of course not. So the group went to the Zongfo Temple again, and the younger brother was responsible for driving to the gate of the Zongfo Temple so that they could get on the bus nearby after shopping.
Dai Garden
Drive to the Dai Nationality Park, 30 kilometers, 1 hour drive.
It is a little distance to walk from the door to Splashing Square, about 15 minutes. If I go alone, I will be more free. I will go to several villages in the Dai Nationality Park to see the houses, temples and life of the local people. The reason why it is called the Dai Nationality Garden is that it is composed of several well-preserved Dai villages, and has added a splashing water square, a peacock garden, a Dai song and dance theater, etc., and it has become a scenic spot with a ticket of 45 yuan.
The wooden house of the Dai nationality is basically uninhabitable on the first floor. It is located in the tropics and there are many wild animals. There are many tropical fruits here, jackfruit and mango can be seen everywhere.
On the footpath in front of the Splashing Square, there is a strong charm of the Dai people. There are sculptures of the Dai compatriots wearing Dai costumes splashing water, as well as elephant sculptures. When we walked to the square, at 1:30, the water-splashing ceremony had just begun. The staff, all dressed in Dai costumes, surrounded the pool and paraded in costumes. It was so lively.
After the host read out the congratulations, everyone began to splash water in the pool. I went to Thailand with a group tour before and played it once, but I won’t play this time. Hold the camera, watch the excitement, and capture the happy moments among the splashing crowd. The host can also play, splashing water according to local customs, then splashing each other in teams, and then splashing on some people, such as uniformly splashing water on people in yellow clothes, it is very interesting, everyone splashes vigorously, has a lot of fun, full of blessings .
After splashing water, go to the peacock garden next to it. There are quite a few peacocks, but unfortunately they are all in big cages.
Elephants are seen on the road for tourists to ride.
Next to it is the Dai Theater, with Dai folk dance performances, not bad, all singing and dancing.
Subtropical fruit experience trading area
On the return journey, there was heavy rain. In the tropical rainforest, there are usually showers every day. The rain is fierce and fast, and it goes quickly. When we arrived in Jinghong City, it turned into a sunny day again.
Go to the subtropical fruit experience trading area and look at the tropical fruits. Mangoes are big and sweet, as well as durian, jackfruit, fire ginseng fruit, lychee, red bayberry, watermelon, etc. Most of them are also available in Guangdong. Mangoes are more attractive. The three of us One person per box, 10 catties, 50 yuan free shipping, about six or seven pieces, and the express delivery will arrive in about four or five days.
Mengle Daijiale
Go out of the fruit center and go to Xishuangbanna tourist resort to eat Dai family music, which is affordable. A Daijiale set meal is about 150 yuan, and the table is full. There are grilled tilapia with lemongrass, pineapple rice, fried eggs with stinky vegetables, fried pig skin, vermicelli, roast chicken, etc. The value is really high. There are many types of dishes, but there are still relatively few hard dishes, unlike the Northeast, which makes people exclaim hard dishes. This Dai family meal is more eye-catching overall. As for the actual degree of satiety, different people have different opinions. The driver brother told us that among the Dai people, there are more boys with the surname Yan, and more girls with the surname Yu. No wonder you see many farmhouses with rock or jade in their names.
Visit the Starlight Night Market
After eating, go to Starlight Night Market. It is next to the Lancang River, the longest river in Southeast Asia. It feels amazing. I have visited a lot of big rivers in China, but every time I cross these big rivers, I feel that they are not as magnificent as I imagined. Maybe it's because the transportation is developed now. Just imagine that a hundred years ago, a ferry was needed to cross the river, and I would definitely feel more awe of these rivers.
It was still as lively as yesterday, but this time I walked with fellow villagers, so I walked more. The Floating Market of the Six Countries on the Mekong River is at the southernmost end of the entire night market. It is as lively as the Shwedagon Pagoda.
The entire night market can be divided into three major areas. One is the street night market outside the Shwedagon Pagoda scenic area. There are many shops and vendors here, and they are very lively. The other two are in the Shwedagon Pagoda Scenic Area, one is the Shwedagon Pagoda and the large square below, each stall is shaded by umbrellas of different colors, it is very beautiful, and the lights are bright at night; the other is the Liuguo Floating Market, Surrounding this area of water, there is another lighting decoration, and the neon lights of the buildings in the distance are flickering, making the whole night market even more brilliant.
In the floating market, you can take a night cruise on the water by boat. Around the water area, there are all kinds of night-time patterns. There are booths with neon gauze tents, various small stalls selling juice, barbecue and accessories, and some singing on the stage. Two or three singers sing in turn. The songs of the Dai nationality (it sounds like Thai songs), the audience cheered and cheered, it was a lively night.
After a few small bridges, there is a very long snack street, connected to the Shwedagon Pagoda. The two little fellows bought lemon boneless chicken feet, Shiping coated tofu, and Lao coffee. They are really foodies. What impresses me the most is the Shiping tofu, which is amazing. It uses the local marinating method in Shiping County, Yunnan. The tofu made is tough after roasting, and the tofu inside becomes pulpy. With a light fragrance, dipped in some sauce, it will explode when bitten down. It is really a very good snack, and you can't stop eating one piece after another.
The stall owners are constantly busy, while the tourists come and go in an endless stream, which is quite emotional. I am also in Nan'ao Island, Shantou, and open a homestay for tourism. In seven or eight years, how many customers have I received and sent to?
At the water's edge, I took a picture of Liuguo Floating Market with large characters as the background. This night market is brightly lit and full of tourists. It is definitely a must-see attraction in Banna.
Downstairs BBQ
Back at the hostel, the dinner and night market were not enough to fill my stomach, so I washed up and went downstairs to eat skewers.
There are two special barbecues of the Dai nationality here, and I chose one, all of which are small skewers, with liver, intestines, various meats, and various vegetables. I ordered more than 10 skewers, and then asked for two large cans of beer from the canteen next to me. It's a very traditional barbecue shop, with no storefront, only a platform for grilling skewers and an oven. It's not easy for a husband and wife who are busy. The third night in Xishuangbanna, cheers! The barbecue is delicious, but a bit spicy, but the cold beer is good.
D3 A Brief Exploration of the Faith in the Hot Land
On the third day, I got up after 9 o'clock, I didn't have any plans, so I went to eat the famous local snacks, Pao Ruda and Lemon Jelly. Then go to the Mengle Great Buddha Temple, the main hall, the Great Buddha, the viewing platform, the Great Buddha Pagoda, the water splashing activities, and the peacock flying activities, it is worth a visit.
ice cold
The ice is cold, this is a special dessert snack shop recommended by many people, lemon rice noodles and paoluda are very local products.
Serve first, the iced coconut milk soaked in dry bread slices, which is similar to the deep-fried dough sticks soaked in soy milk! In this hot summer in the tropics, blowing on the air-conditioning and drinking cold drinks is super comfortable!
Lemon rice noodles came up soon, a large plate. When I saw the product, I was a little confused. It turned out to be a small cuboid rice noodle with the texture of Xi’an Liangpi. I thought it was the same thin strip and long cylinder as Jiangxi rice noodle, haha. It’s the first time to eat hot and sour iced rice noodles in summer. It’s great. It’s cold and hot, and it feels like it can relieve the heat. So I ate a lot of mouthfuls, but after a while, I felt something wrong, and my scalp was numb. This spiciness is not inferior to that of Sichuan and Chongqing, my God! Poor that cup of Pao Ruda, it was regarded as a chilled drink to stop spicy food. Rice noodles, give up after eating half of it! It's too spicy!
It takes about half an hour to ride to the Mengle Great Buddhist Temple. It is really hot along the road. This is the first city I have seen that has water vapor nozzles on the green trees. At that time, I wondered how it felt that there was water vapor oncoming some road sections. It turned out that it was the sprinkler installed on the green trees. Xishuangbanna is so hot that it needs to spray water vapor to cool down, while Turpan is so dry and hot that it needs to be drip-irrigated with water pipes under green trees. It is not easy. These regions have very different climates.
Mengle Great Buddha Temple
It costs 120 yuan to buy at the ticket window for individual passengers, and it is a little cheaper to buy online. The Great Buddha Temple, you can see the Great Buddha and the Shwedagon Pagoda on the mountain from a distance while riding. Especially the style of Thai Buddhist temples and palaces, the Grand Palace and Zhalong Temple are typical representatives.
①【Big Buddha Temple】
The gate is very attractive, and the magnificent roof is a major feature of Dai temples, even the gate, especially the golden decorations on the eaves, which have several layers, make people unforgettable!
Entering the gate, there is a guide map of the scenic spot. It is mainly divided into three parts, one is the palace of the Great Buddha Temple, the Great Buddha, the golden pagoda, and the viewing platform. I just plan to come to the Great Buddha Temple to see the Great Buddha.
Here is the memorial site of the local hero Payazhen, with his historical achievements and statues. The locals really put their heart into commemorating their heroes at the entrance of the scenic spot, so that tourists can learn about the heroic leaders of the Dai people.
Going up the stairs, you can see the main hall. There are several stairs here, and the dragons on both sides of the stairs are also interesting. The dragons on both sides of the bottom staircase have seven dragon heads, which are reduced to five, then three, and the last one.
What kind of culture is this? These dragons are the same as the dragons in the Grand Palace in Thailand. They are all multi-headed. The palace in Thailand remembers that it is a big dragon, and the dragon claws are small dragons. The area of the Dai people is Southern Buddhism. The dragon in the temple refers to the Naga, the dragon god in the Lancang River (Mekong River). Thailand also enshrines this dragon god. It is actually the same as the domestic dragon, but the shape is true. There is a difference.
Going up is the main hall, which is slightly grand. The roof is also divided into several layers. This architectural style is still different from the Daxiong Palace in China. In China, there is one floor and one eaves. Here, it feels like there are several eaves on one floor. Entering the store, all the pillars and walls are painted with gold paint, which is so shiny and heroic. There is also a large platform in the center of the main hall, on which you can get slippers. The roof of the main hall is very high, and the inside of the hall is very cool.
Coming out of the back door of the main hall, I saw the goddess of the earth again, which should correspond to the goddess of the earth in Manting Park. She is the witness of Sakyamuni doing good deeds, and helped Sakyamuni drive away the demons and ghosts who wanted to murder him. Behind the goddess is a long step, and behind the step is a big Buddha statue. There is a small hall on the left and right sides of the main hall, the Longevity Hall and the Weekly Hall.
Go up the steps and finally reach the bottom of the big Buddha. The Buddha statue is very tall! 45 meters high, you have to look up. Standing at the feet of the Buddha, you can't take pictures of the whole body of the Buddha, you can only squat down and take pictures. Buddhism is really a kind of miraculous existence. Such a spiritual belief has condensed so many hearts and led everyone to build such a large Buddha statue. The actual execution of spiritual power is really shocking.
Behind the Buddha is a glass viewing platform. Here you can overlook the entire Jinghong City, with a wide view. There is a bodhi tree under the viewing platform, which is said to be a direct descendant of the bodhi tree when the Buddha was enlightened. There is also a dragon in the image of a cobra next to it. To enter the glass observation deck, you need to buy disposable shoe covers, a pair of 5 yuan.
Behind the viewing platform is the Great Buddha Pagoda that is being repaired. What you can see from a distance at the foot of the mountain is the Big Buddha Statue and this Buddhist Pagoda. Resplendent and magnificent, spread out like a lotus flower, surrounded by large and small pagodas, it is magnificent. It's a pity that I can't go in, so I can only watch from the side.
The weather was really hot. After climbing such a section and resting three or four times, I was sweating profusely, and a bottle of water could be wrung out of my clothes. The tropics are well-deserved, with more than 30 degrees, and the body temperature is 5-10 degrees hotter than Nan'ao Island. I must have tanned in Banna these days.
Rest in the shade next to it, the water splashing activity is after 2 o'clock, and the peacock is released at 3 o'clock, so there is no rush. There are several phoenix flowers next to them, and the flowers are in full bloom. The phoenix flower is the city flower of Shantou, and it can be seen everywhere in Banna. The green feathery leaves and the dazzling red flowers like flames make people love it. In contrast, the golden phoenix tree in Shantou seems to be uncommon. However, it is precisely because of the city flower of Shantou that I have an initial understanding of Phoenix wood.
②【Splashing Square】
After a short rest, go to the splashing water square, where many tourists are already seated. After watching the dance performance, the general idea is that the local princess was kidnapped by the king of the cottage, and then with the help of the maidservant, how the princess fought wits and courage with the king and finally won. Pretty good dancing.
After the dance, there is a water splashing activity, which is similar to the one in the Dai Nationality Garden yesterday, so I won’t watch it much.
③【Peacock Garden】
Go to the Peacock Garden and wait for the peacock show at 3 o'clock. I found a place to rest first, but I was woken up by peacock calls twice.
The first one is on the top of the tree, which is rare. The peacocks I saw before were all pacing in a small area on the flat ground. I couldn’t even imagine that it could fly to the top of the tree. big bird.
Another call came from the green belt next to it. When I walked in, I found that there was also a peacock lying down here. There happened to be two stones next to it. Pick the closest one and sit on it slowly. It is only more than one meter away from the peacock. Don't dare to act rashly, just watch quietly. The peacock also looked at me, preliminarily judging that there was no danger, and then rested on the ground and preened its feathers. It was the first time to see a peacock so close. Use the camera to telephoto, more clearly. The peacock sometimes stretches its neck and looks around curiously, sometimes turns its head to trim its back feathers, and sometimes shrinks its neck and closes its eyes to take a nap for a while, which makes people's hearts melt.
For animals, I really like them from the bottom of my heart. If I have the opportunity to interact, I will interact politely, and if I don’t have the opportunity, I will watch and appreciate them from a distance. I have a good affinity for animals. When I go out to play, I touch camels in Zhangye Colorful Danxia and cows in Weizhou Island. They are all free-range domestic animals in the wild.
At 2:45, the crowd began to gather around the open space. At 3 o'clock on time, the peacocks flew down from the mountainside to eat. Five or six minutes before and after, the peacocks flew (glide) down from mid-air to eat in groups. It was really spectacular. There are so many big birds, hundreds of them come down at once, which is an eye-opener. The action camera took pictures of the whole process, and the SLR captured many details, which perfectly matched. The big bird spread its wings and glided down from the air, and flapped its wings a few times as a buffer before landing. The feathers are brightly colored, just as beautiful as air dancers descending onto the stage.
Mengle Great Buddha Temple is still a scenic spot worth visiting in Banna. It is a representative of local Buddhism, including the Shwedagon Pagoda, the main hall, the Great Buddha, and the Dai people splashing water and peacocks flying.
Back to the hostel after 3:00 to pack up luggage and then rush to the airport. The plane flew north and overlooked Dianchi Lake in the sky. This hot land in Yunnan is so colorful!
Yunnan is really a hot land! And Xishuangbanna is a special representative among them!
The tropical climate has created one of the few rare natural tropical rainforest areas in my country. Dai compatriots have lived here for generations, and the Water-Splashing Festival is famous far and wide. The special costumes are envied by many girls. There are all kinds of resplendent temples, the glaring Gaozhuang Night Market, as well as colorful Dai delicacies and tropical fruits, as well as elephants and Peacocks, these are worth your trip to Banna!
