You must go to Tibet once in your life!
One day in June 2019, my frantic impulse to go to Tibet met Laotian's dream of driving 318 by himself. Then we started to rent a car, form a team, determine the departure time and other odds and ends. Although we also experienced some twists and turns, fortunately, at the critical moment, the rain and fog were cleared to see the sunny sky, and we met two fellows born in the 80s. People: Xiaoliang from Dalian in Northeast China and Zhaopeng from Qingdao in Shandong Province.
In this way, on September 28th, we set off from Chengdu, with four people in one car, heading west along the most beautiful National Highway 318 in the legend. After 10 days, we drove 2806 kilometers around three rivers and canyons at an average altitude of 4000 meters. , passing through the eight major mountains and glaciers, the three major lakes Haizi, taking more than 100 dangerous turns, visiting the most beautiful towns, passing each other's world in the last piece of pure land on earth, and starting our pilgrimage...
Our regular photo, with butter tea instead of wine, cheers!

DAY6: Zuogong - Bomi (night travel to Bomi)
Check-in points: Dongda Mountain, Yela Mountain, 7 turns of the Nujiang River, Ranwu Lake, Midui Glacier
Road conditions: steep
On this day, the only time in the whole journey was to drive at night, and it was under the condition of insufficient fuel.
At 9 o'clock in the morning, we had enough food and drink, and set off from Zuogong Yuexi Resort Hotel. This is the hotel with the highest standard that we have stayed in since half of the journey. The facilities are indeed complete and the location is also very good (about the accommodation along the way, It will be sorted out in a separate chapter).
At breakfast, I met the uncle who drove the Wrangler alone, and the fans who met him inevitably took the opportunity to chat.
Continue on 318.
Zuogong set off for about an hour, and arrived at a place where the water flow merged and merged, so I couldn't help but stop.
Where there is water, there are homes and crops.
This terrain reminds me of the home of Toast Maiqi in Alai's "Dust Settled".
The clusters in the distance should be highland barley.
Along the way, I saw the local people harvest the highland barley and dry it in their unique way. So the crop maturity trajectory I understand is from east to west.
Keep going, blue sky, white clouds, we shuttle in the clouds
Why is that stuff in the distance so much like a panda?
The first high altitude - Dongda Mountain.
Leave a big big character with three digits
And I just miss the pile of snow
At this moment, there are still nearly 400 kilometers away from the destination, and more than 300 kilometers away from Ranwu Lake. The altitude is too high to dare to stay for a long time.
Passing Yela Mountain, 4658 meters above sea level.
Finally, we are going to take the legendary Nujiang 72 turn.
Nujiang has 72 turns, N zigzag connections, and at least 99 turns.
For this journey, I would like to thank classmate Xiaoliang. Thanks to his bravery and carefulness, he drove out of such a bend safely.
In fact, in an objective evaluation, turning 72 is not scary at all, it is continuous uphill bends. Of course, some travelers said that people who took the turn vomited. All of us are fine, and every time we turn a sharp corner, we feel uncontrollable excitement and excitement.
Where is Zhaopeng now? ! Our 72 turn panoramas are all made by Zhaopeng. As the owner of an online shop with the best technology in shooting with a mobile phone, he is very busy!
Turning over the winding ditches and steep mountain roads, I was a little tired until we reached Ranwu Lake, which aroused our infinite fun, at least for me ^_^
Ranwu Lake, flowing in the embrace of mountains and snow-capped peaks, is very large. It is indeed the largest lake in eastern Tibet. Together with the cows by the lake, it is so quiet and serene.
Ranwu Lake is really big. We walked from east to west, and we were still walking around the lake.
I envy this cow
360-degree panoramic view of Ranwu Lake
Hai Ge and the lake
There is a self-driving camp club in Ranwu Lake, but it is a pity that the camp rooms were full when we arrived.
On this day, Ranwu Lake was extremely quiet, only a small stone that was nostalgic in my heart stirred up waves!
Leaving Ranwu Lake and moving on, it was already around 5 pm.
Along the way, cattle, sheep, horses and pigs are the top, and they will give way
Small bridges and flowing water, I couldn't help getting out of the car and setting foot
The last destination of the day, Midui Glacier.
Midui Glacier, the lowest glacier in the world, is just beside National Highway 318. It was getting dark when we arrived. There is still a distance from the parking lot to the viewing platform for a close view of the glacier. This distance is an undeveloped path that echoes the woods and creeks, and is divided into horse trails and walking trails. Sitting on horseback for the first time, being carried by the horse and running, I cried out in worry.
Where did classmate Xiaoliang go?
After driving to this point, we found that the gasoline in the car was insufficient. Whether to go back to Ranwu or continue to Bomi depends on Xiaoliang's ability. We rode horses to see the glacier, and Xiaoliang volunteered to stay in the parking lot to see if he could get some gasoline. I conclude that Xiaoliang doesn't like riding horses.
On the first day we arrived at Xindu Bridge, we rode up the mountain, but he insisted on walking up.
Close view of Midui Glacier
please find the difference
Xiaoliang didn't get enough gasoline, so we calculated the distance, made a decisive decision, and made a bold and risky decision: keep going. The premise is: move forward at an even speed, and step on the brakes and accelerators as little as possible. ^_^ This section of the road is handed over to Zhaopeng as the main driver.
The moon is up, the sky is getting dark
I was quiet too!
It took 12 hours to stop and go along the way. The mountains and glaciers we passed by, I think, are particularly like men with strong bones, majestic and wise; and the lake Haizi surrounded by them is like a reserved and unrestrained woman, graceful and quiet. I look at the scenery through the car window, and the mountains, rivers and lakes are also looking at me, so happy!
Overnight in Bomi!
To be continued. . . . . .
