The ancient and majestic Yanshan Mountains, when they reach Huailai, Zhangjiakou, become mountains extending from the northwest and southwest. Here, the branch mountains of Yanshan Mountain stand tall, and there are more than 40 peaks above 1,000 meters above sea level, one of which is called Huanglong Mountain. The mountains here are magnificent and rolling, with an altitude of 1800 meters. What is amazing is that there are 100 hectares of flat land on the top of the mountain, which is called Yunzhong Grassland locally. It's early autumn, and the grass leaves are withered and yellow. Looking down from the air, it looks like a huge natural picture scroll.

The grassland on the top of the mountain is extremely rare in the Yanshan Mountains. When the weather is good, you can look at the waves of Guanting Reservoir like a mirror. Standing on the top of the mountain, you can have a panoramic view of the green fields and rice fields. The green hills outside the mountains are full of styles. You can look up thousands of miles and look up at the sky and the earth.

This is a prairie in the clouds, a prairie on the top of a mountain, its uniqueness is its original wildness. Standing here, you can not only appreciate the majesty of the mountains but also enjoy the infinite scenery of the grassland. Here, the most attractive sight is a pristine birch forest. In the autumn birch forest, its leaves are golden, shining like gold coins on the top of the mountain. This is the autumn held up by the birch forest, like ballads or lyric poems jumping in the sky. The sky whispers, autumn is warm. The scene resembles an impressionist oil painting. It can be said that the painter has the most beautiful encounter with the birch forest here.

Huailai County is known as the "Hometown of Grapes in China". Together with the world-famous grape producing areas of Bordeaux in France and California in the United States, it is also known as the world's three golden regions for grape planting at 40 degrees north latitude. The cultivation of "Huailai Grape" is famous all over the country for its long history, large production scale and good quality, especially the white milk and longan grapes. White milk grape is a royal tribute and a good product for state banquets, and longan grape is even called "Pearl of the Northland" by Mr. Guo Moruo. Grapes in Huailai County are divided into three stages: early, middle, and late. Early-maturing varieties include: Zhana, Qingti, Victoria, Baiyu, Seedless White, etc.; middle-maturing varieties: Baima milk, etc.; late-maturing varieties: longan, red grapes. Before liberation, the grape production areas in Huailai County were mainly concentrated in Nuanquan and Shaying areas. There are different opinions about when viticulture here began. The local people say that there are thousands of years. The book "Compilation of Place Names in Huailai County" states: In the Ming Dynasty, some people moved from Shacheng to build a village (Nuanquan Township, also known as "Sandaowan") and grow fruits (grapes). According to the Yuan History (1206-1363 A.D.) "The Biography of Yelu Chucai": "During the time of Emperor Taizong of the Yuan Dynasty, the nobles could think of not spending money to play gold and silver servants, farming in the Western Regions and grape planting households. The emperor ordered Xuande in Xijing. From more than ten thousand Hu Chongzhi." Emperor Taizong of the Yuan Dynasty ascended the throne in 1229, and at that time called Datong Xijing and Xuanhua Xuande. It seems that there is a basis for moving more than 10,000 households who know how to grow grapes to Xuande Mansion. Huailai is not far from Xuanhua, and they live together in Xuande Mansion. Based on this calculation, the history of grape cultivation in this county is at least 700 years ago.

Huailai County is famous for its rich white milk and longan grapes, which have been tributes to the court for generations. Before liberation, in the large fresh food stores in Beijing, there was often a rectangular wooden signboard, which read: Yantai apples, Shenzhou peaches, Shaying grapes... use famous brands to attract customers. After liberation, Huailai grapes were still a good product for state banquets, enjoying a good reputation both at home and abroad. Among them, the longan grape is praised as the "Pearl of the Northland" by Guo Moruo, chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. (Extracted from the Internet)
