According to industry experts, the best traditional Chinese roses are produced in the area of Shuizhen, Kukushui Town, Yongdeng County, Gansu Province, and Kushui Town enjoys the reputation of "the first township of Chinese roses". In the 1990s, the dried buds of Kushui Rose were once sold at a high price of 80 yuan per kilogram, and the rose oil extracted from roses was called "liquid gold" because of its high price.
