General Zhang Xueliang's mansion is located on Jianguo Road, Beilin District, Xi'an City. It was originally a residential courtyard built by Northwest Tongji Trust Company in 1934. In 1935, Zhang Xueliang rented this house as a private residence when he became the deputy commander of the Northwest "Bandit Suppression" General Headquarters and was stationed in Xi'an. This building is the witness of the "Xi'an Incident".
The architectural style of the mansion consists of three small three-story buildings in the east, middle and west as the main building, and the north row of bungalows is used as the reception room, the succession room, the military reception room and the garage; the south row is the canteen and the guard's dormitory. There are also Chinese and Western restaurants next to the west building. Zhang Xueliang lives and works here, strategizing. In 1937, when the Northeast Army was transferred to the east and left Shaanxi, Zhang Xueliang's mansion was rented out and changed its owner.
Now the mansion is turned into a memorial hall, and the west building is restored according to the situation where Zhang Xueliang lived in that year; the middle building displays the life of General Zhang Xueliang, and relevant historical pictures are exhibited; On the north side of the memorial hall is the historical display of the Xi'an Incident, mainly some historical pictures and physical objects.
