Hebei Engineering University is a key university in Hebei Province and is jointly established by the People's Government of Hebei Province and the Ministry of Water Resources. The predecessor of the school is Hebei Engineering College formed by the merger of the former Hebei Institute of Architecture and Technology (including the Handan Branch of North China Institute of Water Conservancy and Hydropower, which was incorporated in April 2002), Handan Medical College, and Handan Agricultural College. The new campus covers a total area of about 4,098 mu, with a school building area of 973,100 square meters; the old campus covers a total area of about 2,125 mu, with a school building area of 897,000 square meters.
