The Jimsar Thousand-Buddha Cave is located on the Loess Hill at the northern foot of Tianshan Mountain, 5km southwest of Jimsar County. The Thousand-Buddha Cave is in the shape of an east-west rectangle, with a mountain gate in the east. The main hall sits west and faces east, with a civil structure, and the north and south have auxiliary rooms, brick and wood buildings. The main hall is divided into three parts: the front hall, the middle hall and the back hall. In the front hall, there is a statue of Shijia Buddha, which is about ten feet high. In the middle hall, there are pictures of Buddha preaching, 18 statues of Arhats, etc.; in the back hall, there is a reclining Buddha statue; the three parts are closely connected to form a whole. There is a stage in the southwest of the temple for the troupe organized by the temple fair.

The original Thousand Buddha Cave was built in the Tang Dynasty, and the current Thousand Buddha Cave was built in the Qing Dynasty, and it was built four times and destroyed four times. What we see now was built with donations from the Jimsar Buddhist Council, and its appearance is different from the Thousand Buddha Caves in history. The murals and statues are re-sculpted and drawn by modern craftsmen.
