Xiaobaiyang Post is a border post between China and Kazakhstan. Its name comes from a story. In the early 1980s, a soldier at the outpost went home to visit his relatives and told the story of the border post to his mother. His mother encouraged him to work hard in the army and asked him to bring 10 poplar saplings back to the outpost to plant them. He wants to take root in the frontier like a poplar tree and guard the frontier for the motherland. Chen Fulin and his comrades who returned to the border post planted the saplings beside the barracks, so the post was renamed "Little Baiyang Post".
