Qinghai Salt Lake Potash Plant is a well-known listed company in Golmud, known as the "Microsoft" in China's potash industry. The factory area of the Salt Lake Potash Plant is in the Chaerhan Salt Lake. There is also a Salt Lake Museum in the factory area, which exhibits many contents about the history of the Chaerhan Salt Lake and various minerals.
Although the management department and dormitory area of Salt Lake Potash Plant are in Golmud City, its factory area is 60 kilometers away from Golmud. The museum is in the development company not far from the factory. In the museum, you can see the history of people's development and utilization of Chaerhan Salt Lake, as well as many salt flower products with strange shapes. In the harvesting workshop of the development company, industrial tools and products such as salt mining boats and salt flowers can also be seen.
The more spectacular part of the potash plant is a 6-meter-deep reservoir with an area of 3 square kilometers, from which the nearby potash salt is excavated. Due to the high salt content, there is no grass around, forming a very strange desolate scenery. Another attractive point is that it is one of only 3 similar factories in the world, the other two are at very low altitudes in Salt Lake City in the United States and the Dead Sea in Israel.
