The ancient city of Shichengzi is located on Magouliang, about 1 km northeast of Magouliang Village, Banjiegou Township, Qitai County, where the hills are rolling and the water and grass are lush. The Magou River flows through the south of the site, and the valley is deep, with cliffs and cliffs, and the terrain is dangerous. Shichengzi is named for its outcropping rocks. Judging from the current situation, it is different from ordinary ancient cities, but it was built by using the terrain skillfully. The earth wall is currently visible. The north wall is on the top of the hill, roughly oriented east-west, about 280 meters long, and there are many small mounds on the outside. The west wall is about 150 meters long (the southern part is gone), and there is a large mound protruding from the southern end, which seems to be a city gate or an enemy tower. It faces the river in the east and south, and there are no traces of walls. In addition, there is a north-south earth wall near the middle of the city, connecting with the north wall. The terrain in the city slopes from north to east, divided into cultivated land or grassy beach, and there are no architectural remains. There are many fragments of gray slate tiles and tube tiles scattered on the surface, with Jomon on the outside and cloth patterns on the inside; there are also many gray pottery pieces. Typical cultural relics of the Han Dynasty, such as gray pottery pots and bowls, have been unearthed. Among them, the cloud-shaped mountain-shaped tiles not only have the Han style of the Central Plains, but also have unique characteristics.

Shichengzi Ancient City is the only Han Dynasty-style ancient city site in Changji Prefecture and Xinjiang, and it is a rare Han Dynasty military garrison site. Relevant experts have verified that Shichengzi was Shule City where Geng Gong defended against the Huns in the Eastern Han Dynasty, but it is still controversial today. Shichengzi is now a state-level cultural relic protection unit in Changji Prefecture.
