The Jiele Great Golden Pagoda is located beside the national road from Kunming to Ruili, in Jiele Village, 5 kilometers northeast of Ruili County. The Pagoda" is an ancient Buddhist building, Buddhist event venue and tourist attraction in Ruili, and its scale is no less than that of Yunyan Pagoda and Manfeilong Pagoda in Xishuangbanna.
Jiele Golden Pagoda was built in the 17th century. It is a group of 17 pagodas covered with golden tiles. Except for the main pagoda, there are 16 small pagodas all around. The star arches the moon, majestic and magnificent. The base of the pagoda is built with rectangular bluestone. The tower group is a steel-concrete structure. The main tower is 39.5 meters high. There are hundreds of wind chimes tied. Looking from a distance, the dazzling golden pagoda is hidden among the big green trees. The breeze blows and the sound is jingle and melodious, which reflects the architectural concept and artistic achievements of Dai craftsmen hundreds of years ago with national characteristics.
This pagoda is one of the famous pagodas in Southeast Asia, and there is a Buddhist temple next to it. Every year during the Songkran Festival, a three-day grand Buddhist meeting is held, which is very lively.
