Tongle Village is located in a mountainous area 6 kilometers south of Yezhi Town, Weixi County, Diqing Prefecture. The village is surrounded by mountains, and the Xinluo River flows into the Lancang River from east to west. The forest vegetation is well protected, and the forest coverage rate is over 98%. There are 106 households and more than 600 people in the village. The village has a long history and is the epitome of Lisu ethnic customs and culture.
Tongle Lisu traditional costumes such as skirts, aprons, and "flower wax mounting" are all sewed and sewn by themselves, with a relatively long history. The hemp is first spun into threads, then soaked in hot rice soup for a few minutes, dried and then woven into cloth. Weaving straps: In the past, hemp thread was dyed with various berries and woven into multicolored straps. The straps are generally 10-25cm wide, and they are the main parts of making "flower wax mounting".
Women generally wear "呙交" (three-pointed caps made of blue cloth, facing up at right angles), on which are embellished with "Yima" (small seashells) to form a pattern, and three "Pubian" (diameter 10 cm) are tied on the front left and right. Copper and silver discs), with hair on the back, decorated with shell ornaments, colorful beads hanging on the neck, and large silver earrings. She wears a fine white linen gown with a large front, a purple or black waistcoat, a pleated skirt, an embroidered apron, and a colorful wool belt. She wears "wax mounted" on her shoulders and white leggings on her legs. Many women also enjoy tattooing on their long skirts, which are full of flowers. Married women wear large copper rings in their ears, which are long enough to hang down their shoulders. They also wear coral, colored beads, shells, and barley as headdresses on their heads. Some women also like to wear a string of agate, seashells or silver coins on their chests, and the seashells are engraved with simple horizontal and vertical lines or drilled with small holes.
The men wear a "shell palahong" (sheep felt hat) with a red thread around the brim of the hat, and those who are married wear a huge silver or copper earring on their left ear, wear a long striped shirt of fine white linen with a large breast inside, and a black waistcoat on the outside. Wear a woolen belt, wear "wax mount" on the left side, wear a long knife, carry a crossbow and arrow bag on the right side, wear wide-mouthed trousers, the trousers reach knees, and wear woolen or linen leggings.
Tongle Lisu dwellings are built on the hillside, and they look like layers of pavilions from a distance. The traditional well pole-style wooden houses account for more than 98%. There are three types of layouts. The two are side by side, with the doors facing one direction; the third is the courtyard style, which was only built for the wealthy in the past, but is now more common. The wooden house is made of logs or square logs in a well-dry way. The mountain frame or the column joist is used for the frame, and the rafters are used for the frame. In the past, it was mostly one floor, but now it has developed into a two-story building. The upper floor is still made of wooden corrugated shelves, the lower floor is used for livestock, and the upper floor is for people. There is a firepit in the room, and iron tripods are set up to live around the firepit. Zhuang houses are generally single-room wooden corrugated houses, surrounded by stone walls and covered with wooden boards. It is hard to see the old shack-style houses with thousands of feet on the ground.
Crossbow shooting is a popular sport among the Lisu people. Competitions are often held during Chinese New Year and festivals. During the competition, fried rice cakes are placed on one side of the field as targets. The strength of bows and arrows depends on the size of the bow pieces, and there are 10-100 kg grades.
