Liuhu Lake is located in the center of Pingliang City, covering an area of more than 88,000 square meters, or 133 acres, of which the lake area is 32 acres. It is a famous natural landscape garden in East Longdong.
Willow Lake was first built in the first year of Emperor Shenzong Xining in the Northern Song Dynasty (AD 1068). During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, King Zhao of Han Fan occupied it as a garden and made a large-scale expansion. Emperor Wuzong of the Ming Dynasty bestowed "Chongwen Academy". After Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, it was repaired several times successively. In the fifth year of Qianlong (1740 A.D.), it was renamed "Baiquan Academy" and later changed to "Gaoshan Academy". In the early years of Tongzhi, Liuhu Lake was destroyed by war. In the twelfth year of Tongzhi, Zuo Zongtang, governor of Shaanxi and Gansu, stationed troops in Pingliang, restored it again, renamed it "Liuhu Academy", and wrote a plaque of "Liuhu" in his own handwriting. In 1926, it was changed to Gansu Seventh Normal School.
The victory of Liuhu Lake begins with Nuanquan. There is a warm spring on the ground, the water temperature reaches about 17 ℃, and it flows smoothly in all seasons. Nuanquan is the source of Liuhu Lake. There is a stone tablet next to the spring. Liuhu Lake is famous for its peculiar "Liu Zhonghu, Lake Zhongliu". In the late spring, catkins flutter lightly and fill the lake.
