Zhengding Ancient City Wall[edit]

The ancient city of Zhengding has a history of more than 1,600 years. It was built with earth in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and built with stone in the Northern Zhou Dynasty. It was expanded into an earthen city in the Tang Dynasty, and then changed into a brick city with a circumference of 24 li after expansion in the Ming Dynasty. The existing Zhengding city wall is a relic of the Ming Dynasty, and the remaining 8,106 meters of the city wall remain.

The most majestic and magnificent of Zhengding City Wall are the four city gates, named Yingxu in the east, then Huancui, Changle in the south, Zhenyuan in the west, and Yongan in the north. After years of erosion, the west and north city gates have lost their former style, and the east gate was completely covered under the defense fortifications in the 1960s.

Previously, the South City Gate Tower and the 50-meter city walls on both sides called on the people to donate old city bricks, and an investment of 3.99 million yuan was invested in the restoration in 2001.
