One of the important airports, it is a national first-class civil international airport, a major domestic trunk line airport and an international scheduled flight airport.

Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport was opened to traffic on October 6, 1972. In 1984, 1992, 1999 and 2005, the airport was expanded and upgraded successively.
