Phoenix (/ˈfiːnɪks/ FEE-niks; Navajo: Hoozdo; Spanish: Fénix or Fínix,[citation needed] Walapai: Banyà:nyuwá) is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state
of Arizona, with 1,608,139 residents as of 2020. It is the fifth-most populous city in the United States, and the only U.S. state capital with a population of more than one million residents.
Phoenix is the anchor of the Phoenix metropolitan area, also known as the Valley of the Sun, which in turn is part of the Salt River Valley. The metropolitan area is the 11th largest by population in the United States, with approximately 4.85 million people as of 2020. Phoenix, the seat of Maricopa County, has the largest area of all cities in Arizona, with an area of 517.9 square miles (1,341 km2), and is also the 11th largest city by area in the United States. It is the largest metropolitan area, both by population and size, of the Arizona Sun Corridor megaregion.
Wuchuan Gelao and Miao Autonomous County (referred to as Wuchuan County) is an autonomous county under the jurisdiction of Zunyi City, which is located in the border area of Guizhou and Chongqing. It is one of the two ethnic minority autonomous counties in China with the Gelao nationality as the main ethnic group. Wuchuan County is located in the northeast of Guizhou Province, connected with Dejiang County and Yanhe Tujia Autonomous County in the east, Zheng'an County and Daozhen Gelao and Miao Autonomous County in the west, Fenggang County in the south, and Wulong District in Chongqing and Pengshui Miao Tujia Autonomous County in the north. By the end of 2017, Wuchuan County covers an area of 2777.59 square kilometers and has jurisdiction over 3 streets, 11 towns, 2 townships, 81 villages and 41 communities, with a resident population of 323100, with ethnic minorities accounting for 95.9% of the total population. On April 24, 2019, the people's Government of Guizhou Province formally approved the autonomy of the Gelao and Miao ethnic groups in Wuchuan.
